Do you just want a single-track editor for tweaking and cutting, or a full-fledged multitrack DAW? Free or paid? Easy learning curve / basic functionality, or more advanced / professional?
I used HairerSoft Amadeus Pro for a while. It's affordable but functional, kind of the GoldWave of audio editors for macOS. Predominantly single track but has some overlapping multitrack capabilities. The documentation is pretty readable and there's a tutorial from Mosen Consulting on it (also paid). You might try that one.
I know, it's a small DAW with more c apabilities than you'd probably need. But it's easy to use and accessible for simple audio editing. I used it a lot before I've started out making some music and therefore bought Logic Pro.
In GarageBand, you can easily record and edit some stuff.
