Hi all,I just got a mac for college and I was wondering if I would be able to put kurzweil on my mac for my textbooks. If not, does anyone have any viable options?Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I think you can install it on the Mac, but you have to pay for it and it is expensive I also don't know if it will work. Could you try KNFBReader on your phone? That might work for textbooks, I have not tried it yet. Also, Finereader works for the Mac with scanning, you just can't read as you scan. Depending on where you live, your college can also put the books into a digital format that you can read with voice over. You may want to look into that to. I am sorry that I cannot be of more help.

Hi. There are so many more options now for book-reading than there were 15 years ago when I went to graduate school! I did have to scan a lot of things. However, now, in this electronic age, I would highly recommend other options including BookShare or even kindle titles that you can access on an iPhone for sure. As another poster has suggested, KNFB Reader is an excellent portable choice for using an iPhone to scan hardcopy. Also, the PDF Reader that Mac has isn't bad for reading PDF's, from what I have experienced, in case you should get some of those to read. If you really must have Kurzweil, then you could always have your Mac partitioned and run Bootcamp with Windows on one side and Mac on the other. That's how I have the best of both worlds when I live in Windows.

Hi,
Have you tried out DocuScan Plus? It's available for Mac! This is a suggestion! I use it on Windows and it works for me!

Hi,
yeah, docuscan plus is a great OCR app for mac. Also, too, is fine reader OCR pro. One question for those docuscan users out there, is there a way to open/ocr multiple files at the same time? i've asked on here before, but got no replies.

Hi,
I hope I'm answering your questions correctly! Yes, you can have more than one document open at once using DocuScan Plus. Press Option plus Accent Grave to switch among your open documents. I apologize if I may not have answered a question incorrectly! Have a great day!
