keyboard problems

at different times while typing the keyboard seems to lose focus or partially inactive.I can not continue to type, use delete, enter or escape with any result. I can open menus to close some windows, but must do force quit. Using restart often returns normal keyboarding - as long as reopen windows is not checked. I think I am inadvertently tapping the trackpad while typing. Fairly sure this occurs only when speed typing in I messages, but all finder docs are affected the same. I'm hoping that there is some key combination is available to bring keyboard back in use when this happens again. Thanks for any & all suggestions.

Hi,
Yes, I've had this issue as well along with others so it is known. This only seems to happen in messages and the only work around is turning off trackpad commander, and doing a single click with the trackpad and turning trackpad commander back on. I have not tried this workaround myself so can't say if it works or not.

I'm not alone! This is good news, better than cutting off my thumbs! Wonder if trackpad can be isolated from messaging? Is there a quick off/on for trackpad? Think I can make that a habit - after switching from JAWS to apple devices, all is possible!

I don't use the trackpad commander as it gets in the way of typing, however turning it off and on is simple. Turn the rotor, use two fingers like a dial with the VO keys held down, one way, to the right for commander on, and to the left for off.
HTH, and good luck with your mac.
