Hello there, hope this message finds everybody in the high spirits.

I think I have posted this message here before, but I cannot make the voice-over announce the keys while I type in Microsoft Word in Mac.

Is anybody having the same issue? Note, I turned on and off the keyboard option where it says the letters and words. But nothing happened.

I love the Microsoft word on Mac, it just synchronize my schools account activity and makes me more organized.

Hope anybody can help.

Cheers!.

Hey mate, good to hear from you again

. You know what is the funny part? It used to work perfectly before a few updates, but it just suddenly stopped working

I hope they fix it soon, because I had a big assignment hurdle. Pages confuses me with the word counts, they both are totally different.

The reason why I like Microsoft Word because it organizes everything in my one school account, so I don't have to find nothing in a separate account.

Just opened up a new Word doc and started typing. Voice over is reading everything as it should. Am I misunderstanding your bug? What is not accessible in Word?

Character echo works fine in Microsoft Word for Mac here. It's an up to date release of Microsoft 365, Current Channel.

Hi all. I'm doing a collaborative writing project, and of course MS Word is the standard. I want to be able to add comments and edit with track changes, and exchange my feedback via email with my Windows-based writing partners. In the past, I've found that importing .docx into Pages, making such edits, and exporting back out to MS Word is inadequate at this task. That means I need to finally purchase a copy of Word.

Obviously I have accessibility concerns, though it sounds like MS Word on Mac is accessible for the most part.

My larger concern is that the entire MS Word landscape has changed dramatically. I last used Word on a Windows 7 system, and it was Office 2012, I think. What are my purchase options? Can I buy Word standalone, or must I subscribe? Can I just get Word, or must I buy this thing they call Office 365? What is the subscription price for Word versus the whole Office 365 suite? For the sake of discussion, let's assume I need Word and only Word, none of the other suite components, and I will only need it for the 2-year duration of this project.

Thanks for any advice.

I don't think you can get Word standalone, but Microsoft does offer Office Home and Student 2021 as a one-time purchase for $149 US. As I don't use any of those apps, I can't comment on the advantages and disadvantages of buying one-time versus subscribing to Microsoft 365, except to tell you my understanding is that you don't get feature updates with the one-time purchase, whereas with a Microsoft 365 subscription, you'll receive updates for as long as you're subscribed. You can find more information about Office home and Student 2021 on Microsoft's website.

I appreciate the pointer and the advice, Tyler.

I can't believe I'm considering doing this. I feel like I'm going back to the dark side. LOL.

Agreed the subscription is attractive. I don't need the storage - I'm not even close to using my free 15GB at Google Drive. But this would be useful for cloud sharing with my Windows 10 spouse.

Back in the old Word 2012 days, you handled large documents by putting each chapter in its own document, using same templates and styles, then combining them with a master document.
