macOS and Mac Apps

Hi. I have been researching potential methods to get super egghumt onto my macbook pro. I am attempting to install it via wine bottler and the articles I've read on how to geek and similar sites indicate that one need only choose open with wine bottler from the context menu of the executible file. I receive an alert that windows applications cannot run on mac and super egghunt set up cannot be opened. Clearly I'm missing some steps. I've seen some forum topics on here that some of you are successfully playing super egghunt on your mac, and I would love it if someone could give me some tips as to which components and steps I need in order to set it up through wine bottler. I am running MacOS Big Sur on a 2017 macbook pro with an Intel I7 3.5GHz processor and 16Gb ram. Thank you for any information you can provide.

You can also try making a Windows VM using VMWare Fusion or Parallels Desktop.

If you have Codeweaver Crossover, it works.

Let me know if you have Crossover installed and I can share the published app so you don't have to install it.

Hi. Thank you for the app. I downloaded and when I open it, I receive a message that the egg app is damaged and cannot be opened. I checked system preferences and there is no option in security to override like with other apps. Do I need to install crossover or some other app in order for this to work? Thank you.

Note: Crossover is not needed, this is a standalone app.

Ok, now let's see how to solve the "App is damaged" message...

Can you first check that the downloaded zip file is about 600mb?
Unzip it, the uncompressed file size should be about 1.3 GB.
If the file size is correct, move the egg app into your Applications folder, and then try these two options.
Start with option A, hopefully it will work:

Option A:
1.- Right Click the egg.app
2.- Click "Show in Finder"
3.- Right click the egg app again
4.- Select "open app"

If that doesn't work, try Option B:
1.-Open Terminal.app
2.- Copy-paste the code below in Terminal, then press Enter:

xattr -cr /Applications/egg.app

3.- It will ask for your password.
4.- After you do that, close Terminal, and
5.- Try opening the app again.

Hopefully that will work.

Let me know if it worked!

Thank you so much! Option B worked. I was even able to register my super egg hunt plus license aqnd just unlocked the chicken coop mode on my mac! I'm so happy. this is my favorite windows game and Ive missed it. so much.
