Hi,
I am wondering if there is a way to set different applications to use different setting?
For example. Right bow I have my default setting as characters and words for typing settings. That is not necessarily how I want it set-up in every application. I know that it is a personal preference as to how it is set-up, but I am wondering if you can please share with me how some of you have it set and what you have found to be the most beneficial?
If I set the pronunciation to none so that it reads more normally, will the characters and symbols still appear on the braille display? This may seem like a stupid question, but I am new to braille.
Thanks
Jennifer

You can't do this
Hello. You cannot currently do this. However, you've just given me another idea for a feature request to be sent to Apple. Why not have Activities on iOS just like on OS X? That is a great idea. I encourage you to send this to Apple Accessibility as well. The more people we have doing this, the more likely it will be put in at some point.
You do realize that you are i OS X forum?
I hope you do realize Chris that this post is actually in the OS X forum, not iOS.
In which case, what you actually said applies to OS X, not iOS, and you can use activities Jennifer.
You can create an activity for specific applications for VoiceOver by going into VoiceOver Utility with VO-F8, then pressing Command-0 to switch to the Activities Category.
Then you simply choose a name for your activity, and the settings to be included in it. After that, you move further right with VO-right arrow to select the Apps and Websites button. Here, you can choose which app the activity will apply to.
To answer your second question, speech punctuation is not tied to braille. You can have your punctuation set to none, and the punctuation will still show on your braille display.
You can set up activities,
You can set up activities, but I don't know if that will reflect in dictionaries and stuff. I have some set up for garge band and mail and stuff.
Take care.
My Bad
Oops! I thought you were talking about iOS! Anyway, it is possible to use activities in OS X. You can modify any VO setting for a specific activity. You can also duplicate activities and reset them to default VO settings or your current VO settings. Again, sorry about the previous post. I was thinking you were using iOS. Either way, I have sent the idea for iOS activities to Apple. Again, I'm sorry.
