Hi all. i'm afraid I may frustrate users when I explain this, because I really can't give an accurate description of this bug but here goes. You have Mail open, reading away you decide to close it. You're now on a web page, and the site doesn't "usually" matter, though I admit to not seeing it with Google but maybe I have. As you try to navigate, you hear, Mail, almost as though someone were sending you a message and Voice over was saying hey there's a message, Jack, want to have a party? in other words, I think this may be something to do with the system voice, but I don't know. I'm sorry I can't give more steps to reproduce this problem but there's my question: does anyone know what on earth i'm talking about andhas had this happen or seen it? Thanks for reading.

Go to the notifications preferences and turn off Mail notifications. Some times it is annoying to hear those notifications. I turned them off and now I just hear a sound when I receive a mail, instead of hearing the name of the sender and the subject of the message.

Hi. This happens whenI know for a fact I am ot getting anything. The Mail, Jack wants a party or whatever I said, was an example. I understand when it goes of when the mail is open, but i'm talking when it's completely closed. Thanks guys. :)

If mail is checked in the notifications preferences, then the messages will still appear and be read by voice over even when the mail app is closed.

If I am understanding this correctly, I think I have encountered it a time or two. In my case, what I think is happening is the mail app is getting hung up and is not completely closing upon exit. I actually have to go into Force Quit with Option Command escape, then I have to find mail and force it to close. I hope this makes sense. Yeah, I know, this almost sounds too much like a windows trick. :P
