harddrive is partially locked after installing Yosemite

hey all,
this is my first post on the site. i’ve been on here many times and i love it.
this is a hard question but here goes.
after installing Yosemite on my mac my hard drive has become partially encrypted.
i have two levels for my hard drive in disk utility, both say macintoshHD. the first level of the drive should have numbers as well as the manufacturer name.
on the first level all the options have been locked accept for partition and first aid.
file volt is turned off for macintoshHD. According to mac users Yosemite is it supposed to have a dialogue on file volt that should come up when installing the OS. i have done a complete reformat and no such dialogue appeared. my drive is still partially locked.
The last time I had my computer fixed and Apple Genius said that a lot of users who installed Yosemite were having this problem.
i will not go back to the Apple Store to fix this again. Apple have said that the new operating system has better encryption but if this is the price? no thanks.
I have tried unlocking and decrypting the drive in recovery mode but the options are Grade out.
Any ideas on this would be much appreciated.
thanks

Michael

I'm having the same issue. File vault is off, and I can't in my case do a clean install as both partitions are locked so it seems. I bootee from my flash boot disk I created so I could end my tutorial but I can't end my tutorial as I can't even format any of my partitions, and it shows luck dimmed in the tool bar of the disk utility.

Yeah this is a strange one.

it is extremely frustrating link marrie, apple need to fix this problem right now. it is extremely serious.
