Disable automatic interaction

I’m asking the community if anyone knows how to turn off the automatic interaction on the newer Mac OS. I’m still using Big Sur on my MacBook Air. I recently purchased a new Mac with Ventura. There seems to be a significant change in the way it operates. Previously, I could use VO find to locate text on the website and it would read the entire line or word. No longer functions that way, it only reads the first few letters that I type in. It appears that it automatically interacts and I have to stop interacting and then use the VO arrow keys to read the line , and then I have to simulate a left mouse click to activate it. Does anyone know how to disable this function so that I can go back to the way it acted with Big Sur? I have spoken with several representatives at the Apple Accessibility Support line, and they don’t seem to know how to turn this off.
