I don't have another apple device so I really cannot say if this can be done but can't you sent that file to your device using AirDrop or Play whatever it is called?
If I have to do it I use iTunes since I own a Windows PC. I add the file to my library and then Sync my device with iTunes. Those days are gone since I only use paid ringtones from iTunes and I have become too old to keep up with them. Have a good one!
One would think that the user could simply copy the ring tone via one of the methods in the previous thread, but I don't think that works.
The only way I've been able to get ring tones from my PC to my iPhone is by using iTunes. I understand that this can also be done by using Garage Band, but that is cumbersome and tricky.
Wish Apple made this process more user friendly and simple.
