Help! I'm having a problem adding a new Contact on the Mac
To add a new contact, I press Command+N, then VoiceOver focus jumps to the First name field. Soon thereafter, focus jumps to the search field, and the new contact I was creating vanishes.
Before focus jumps to the Search field, sometimes I am able to enter the first name. If I type really fast, maybe I can even enter the second. But I can never get farther than that. And after focus jumps to the search field, the new contact is gone, so there's no way for me to search for the name I just entered, edit it, and finish adding the contact information.
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Check your quicknav
Check and make sure your Quicknav is off by pressing the Left and right arrow keys.
Not quick nav
So, Command+N works for you?
Thanks, but Quick nav is off. Besides, this isn't the kind of behavior I'd expect to see with quick nav on, as it is unrelated to the arrow keys.
The workaround seems to be to navigate to the Add menu near the bottom, open the menu, and select New Contact. This moves my focus to the first name field, and typing into it does not cause focus to jump to the search field. The mystery is why this doesn't work when I used Command+N to do the same thing.
Yes
Command N works for me. How are you navigating the fields? I'm using VO Right Aero. I am using Ventura but have had no problems with previous OS's. Quicknav does matter if you have the Quick keys enabled. Let's say you do a shfit f, that could move you to the previous form field.
Command-N works for me also.
Command-N works for me also.
Thanks for the feedback
I'm seeing enough odd behavior on my Mac that I'm considering a scratch install. The only thing holding me back is the amount of time and effort this will require, with no guarantee that it will actually fix anything.
