Calendar confusions

It seems like some events I put in my calendar are not getting stored properly somehow. Because:

1. When I do command f and search for an event, it does not come up in the search results. I tried typing the whole word and varying the capitals. Yet this particular event is listed when I manually navigate to the date in question.

2. Sometimes when I restart my Mac, when the calendar opens there are lots of windows open containing the details of events - as if I am currently editing those events. Those are the events which often seem not to appear in search results. So perhaps I haven't somehow saved those events properly. When I enter an event, I do Command n and type the details, then Command e to edit the details and when I've finished I do command w to close the window. There is no "done" or "save" or similar button so I thought command w would be the correct thing to press. Sometimes this puts me back in the day view of the calendar. But sometimes this seems to close everything within calendar. So I'm not sure that pressing command w is the right thing to do to indicate I've finished editing an event, yet I can't think of anything else.

3. When I check on my phone, quite often certain events are there when I swipe around, yet Siri doesn't mention them when I ask what I'm doing on a particular date.

Regardless of any potential synching issues between the Mac and phone, I'd like to be able to be certain events are being saved properly and I don't feel confident about that at the moment. Does anyone have any ideas about whether I'm saving events properly by pressing command w after editing them? And any ideas why searching for some events will not find them, even though it looks like they're there when I look at the relevant date?
