Hi all. Just wanted to let some people in on what the skinny is with Backup and Sync. I'm one who tried to uninstall the program more than twice, reinstall the thing, and yet I can't get a system dialogue to show up to where it says, this folder or that folder, missing, whatever. I am trying to put the synced files into a new google drive folder I created on the finder. But I'm having a hard time with Backup and Sync, and I don't know if Google made it more user friendly or what, but when I open the thing, it is only showing an empty window. Ugh. Worse, voiceover won't focus when I try to do the system dialogues thing, but not sure how I'm supposed to find all the syncing controls with Voiceover. Do I need to know any weird commands I'm missing? Geez, it shouldn't be so hard. ... Thanks all in advance for your help.

It worked okay for me.
I tried it a couple months ago and it worked as advertised. Namely, it gave me synced copies of my files on Google Drive through the Mac Finder interface. I stopped using it and uninstalled it once I realized it wouldn't allow me to collaborate. No way to share files, no way to access files shared with me, and no way for two people to simultaneously edit the same doc.
I'll tell you this. Uninstalling Backup and Sync was a real challenge. It launches at system startup so it's always running. I had to go to System preferences, > Users and Groups, > Login Items and remove it from the list of apps that launch automatically. Then reboot. Then I was able to completely uninstall it. This headache was described briefly in my Google Docs blog.
Thank you, Paul. I didn’t…
Thank you, Paul. I didn’t realize how bad it would be. But it’s not working at all, what I’m seeing is a lack of dialogues I can read popping up and ... oh, I’ll have to fix the groups/users things, and I’ll do that soon.
