Automatic Speaking of Incoming Messages on Mac OS X

Is it possible? A friend's new MacBook does it, and she swears she didn't set up anything special. All I ever get is the standard sound, which, even at the best of times, is low for my not-so-good-any-more hearing. If it's possible to have messages automatically spoken by VoiceOver as they are received, I'd be grateful to know how.

Thanks in advance.

Hi
Yes, with a quick adjustment in your Notification Centre Preferences this is easily done.

Start by opening the Notification Centre and then selecting the Preferences Button.
From within the Notification Centre Preferences, move to and interact with the Applications Table.
Find and Select the Messages Application.
Stop Interacting with the Table and move forward through the Options. I have Banner Notification selected and have checked the checkboxes on Show Notifications in Locked Screen and Show Message Preview. I think that you can select the other settings to suit your specific needs.

Hope this helps.

Ah yes, the preview screen is what I forgot about, I think. Thanks for reminding me to remember that!
