I'll write up a full guide in a bit, or even record something if I can work out how. In the meantime, try this: 1. Import your audio, or record something. Voiceover should be focused on the track, which will be the filename if you imported or just "track 1" if you recorded. 2. Press space to play. Press left bracket to mark the start of your selection, and right bracket to mark the end. 3. If you need to reposition these markers, press space to stop playback, then comma to move the playback position back (or the app will just play your selection) and try again. There are commands to move your selection around which you can find in Audacity's keyboard reference (on google) or in the edit > move selection menu. 4. Once you are happy with your selection, do whatever you want with it. Copy, cut, apply effects, silence, save it as a new file, delete it (cmd-k), all apply to a selection.

Hello. I have just downloaded Audacity for Mac OS X. Is there a getting started guide on how to use Audacity with VoiceOver? Unfortunately I am unable to find any keyboard shortcut keys at the help menu. The app interface is very difficult to navigate and use, there are a lot of unknown items on the screen. Your support is highly appreciated.

I don't know how recent this is, but here is a link for keyboard shortcuts. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/keyboard_shortcut_reference.html Again, I do not know how recent this is. These are supposed to be useful with Windows and Mac, with the Command key being substituted for the Control key on the Mac platform.
