Accessing my music library from my Mac book

Hello all. I'm a new Mac book user, and try as i might, i just can't figure out how to get my Apple music that's on my phone to show up on my Mac. At the moment when i go into music, most of the buttons are dimmed. When i open iTunes on there, admittedly it looks to be a confusing, frightening jumble that means very little to me. I presume i have to sign in from iTunes somehow, but it isn't at all obvious where i need to go to do it. If anyone could offer any simplified instructions they would be much appreciated. In case it helps (and i should have mentioned this earlier just in case), my apple ID is set up on the mac. Thanks in advance, and apologies for the lengthy post.

Yes, I think music is still a mess and doesn't work just quite as good as it should, but I use it for a number of things.

What you need to do is log into what used to be iTunes and you do that by:
Go into music,
Go into menus with VO and m,
over to right into account and then move down to sign in,
then enter your apple id then continue
and then your password.
In that account menu there are other options that you will want or need to look into as well.

In the main screen there is a "sidebar table" that you will want to go into to select things like:
Listen now
library
albums
artists
store
and many other options.
You might want to sync your phone to your macbook, but if you're using iCloud people don't seem to do that any more (I still do) because you could back it up on your mac if you wanted to.

A bit of a learning curve for this one and although iTunes was cluttered in the past it seems to me it worked better than the current set up, but it's what we have now and it is getting better with each upgrade.

If you want to sync iPhone; you have to access that through finder
I usually, click (vo spacebar) on desktop and go into the table (interact (vo down-arrow)) with the table that lists drives network and go to iPhone and then un-interact with (vo up-arrow) and then move right to various options (also a table from which you can select categories for iPhone sync, ETC).
command e to eject just for completeness.

I hope that might get you started.
