After the recent app store update Youtube seems to be broken. Using the usual flick up and down to move forward and back no longer works. How Do I report this to Apple as I cant find support feedback within the Youtube app.

I think there is a place in the app store where you can submit feedback for the YouTube app. I don’t think letting Apple know of the problem would help as they are not the developers of YouTube. You could also try submitting a product review although that probably won’t work.

İ have the same issue and i don’t know what to do. İ submitted feeback anyways

The fix is to delete the app from your device and reinstall.

Not sure where in the app you were experiencing this specific behavior with VoiceOver. there is always some type of add screen that comes up to promote a service offered by YouTube when you first launch the app. There is no voiceOver support on this screen and no back button. What I do is close YouTube in the app switcher and relaunch it again. This seems to make the app work as intended again with VoiceOver, but is rather annoying to encounter when the app is opened. A work around, but it would be nice if there was a way to successfully close this screen using VoiceOver though.

I’m having the same problem. I am able to fast forward through videos, but if I swipe the other direction to rewind I can’t do it. I can only fast forward through videos. I tagged Team YouTube in a tweet but they haven’t gotten back to me. I tried deleting and reinstalling the app but that didn’t seem to work. Tried restarting my iPhone to but that also didn’t work.

To dismiss the adds that appear you just swipe down and there is quick actions in the rotor but this is not obvious unless you try it.
Regarding the position sliders: you can work around this for now by using the pass through gesture and sliding left to rewind the video.
It seems as if they've tried to make the track Position control work better but stopped halfway through coding it. For example The label announces the seconds in a more concise manner, such as 100 seconds instead of one minute 40 seconds but there is the weird flick up and down Bug.

That does happen for me too, voiceover saying in seconds instead of minutes, but it seems to go back to saying the minutes after the two minute mark. however I still can’t rewind. It literally will only go forward by the set amount, which in my case is 10 seconds. even if I flick the other direction to rewind it still only goes forward. Hopefully this can get fixed but as far as I know I’m the only one who’s reported this issue to Team YouTube‘s Twitter. I also sent a feedback form as well.

I emailed the Google disability team about this problem, and I’m also having the same problem when it comes to rewinding videos. Every time there’s an update for YouTube for iOS, there’s always a problem. Think of it like Facebook, when using Facebook voice over doesn’t tell you how many friends you have and I’m sorry to go off topic but it’s true.

Yep I think only announcing the seconds up to 2 minutes is probably intentional as after two minutes the number of minutes is more relevant than the total number of seconds.
I can also no longer rewind at all now using flick down so I've edited my original comment. You can use the pass through gesture and slide left for now as a workaround.

I am also facing this annoying problem. Reported on Twitter tagging YouTube and google accessibility handles. Hoping for an early resolution.

Thank goodness for that. It’s not just me then. I noticed it first this morning when I came to watch a YouTube video. I will uninstall and reinstall and see if that fixes the problem then. Thanks all.

It doesn’t. Deleting and reinstalling the app will not fix the problem. We’ll have to wait for a YouTube update that fixes it

this happens to me too. I wonder if yall have an older phone that you can use for now. I have a 5 s that I can use until an update is submitted.

By tyler chambliss on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 - 03:55

Yep, I can't rewind either. As for YouTube on android, you can still rewind there, so yeah.

By Lucky girl on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 - 03:55

Youtube has been updated. İ updated it just now and no results,i can’t rewind again.

This isn't the first time google has broken something regarding YouTube accessibility but by far it's the worst. You remember back when they added the video duration to the titles then removed it and did that cycle over again a few times, or where you had to flick right twice, once to go to the next video, then again, past a blank element that didn't do anything. Yeah, it's very frustrating.

By chris R on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 - 03:55

Just use the pass through gesture for now. It's not very easy to fine tune the position you are trying to rewind to but it's a work around for now.

This is why I left youtube, and am now on [lbry](http://lbry.tv) No iOs app as of yet but the website works fine, plus you can see, audio, video, images, read blog and text articles, and much much more. It's a library of content, and the app devs by the way are very good at fixing accessibility issues on their site, and apps. They fixed one a few weeks after I reported it. In fact they are in the middle of I hope fixing other issues I reported, but their staff are grate. If you want a [link to check out what it is, click this.]( https://lbry.tv/$/invite/@ke7zum:b)

So long youtube. I don't use you anymore except to download and upload to lbry. And they have a partner program where you can just sync the channels. No sensoring on lbry, it's a library of content made by and fore the community.

to check out my content and/or auto-follow me into the land of Content Freedom, use my invite link below:

, and for more info on LBRY itself see

PS. Especially if you are in Landscape mode on an iOS/Android device, the web app will work just like the Desktop and Android apps.
Also, if you're in to Mark Down, LBRY does support it quite nicely!
Also, LBRY is deeply considering "Live Streaming" (which they mentioned on their Twitter just today.)

I just read that YouTube is back?

Was there an update for it?

Because it didn’t show up as an update yet for me.

Or did you have to reinstall it?

By Luke on Friday, June 26, 2020 - 03:55

As of earlier this morning, I’m still experiencing the rewind problem in YouTube. To the person who said YouTube is back, what did you mean, exactly? I have the latest version of iOS and app updates are automatic so theoretically I should have any recent updates they’ve made, yet I am still experiencing the problem.

By KE7ZUM on Friday, June 26, 2020 - 03:55

I actually thought I saw an update from a few days ago, or maybe it was yesterday. I don't use youtube anymore, but just have it on my system for giggles.

Take care

Hi, I have got this back from Google support re the Youtube problem...Thank you very much for your continued patience while we worked on the issue with Youtube and the fast forwarded and rewinded flicks. I am pleased to say that we tested this with the YouTube update 15.22 and the issue seems to have been resolved. Please check to see if you've received the update. If you have not, I recommend waiting until you receive the update. Once you have the update installed go ahead and test the issue on your end and please do let me know if it has been resolved!

By KE7ZUM on Friday, June 26, 2020 - 03:55

Sounds like a canned response. Think I'll stick with the lbry app as staff are way better at fixing issues. Youtube can go shove it in my humble opinion.

By Newmoon on Friday, June 26, 2020 - 03:55

Works great! I have the 15.22 update and I can rewind and fast-forward perfectly.

By Joel on Friday, June 26, 2020 - 03:55

It’s fixed now. We can now rewind again.

By chris R on Friday, June 26, 2020 - 03:55

I can confirm rewind is working here as well since the last update. Quite happy with Youtube.

By Luke on Friday, June 26, 2020 - 03:55

Glad they got this one fixed relatively quickly

By Brian Giles on Friday, June 26, 2020 - 03:55

I figured this would get fixed quickly. Not only does the scrubber bar work again, but they added buttons to jump forward and back by 10 seconds, which I was hoping for. Very impressed!
