iOS and iPadOS
Hello, I downloaded the YouPlayer app yesterday, and I absolutely love it. I played a video and everything played great. Today, when I updated the app, I tryed to play a video, and when I doulbe tap on the video, it acts like it is going to play, but it takes me completely out of the app. I took the app out of the app switcher and tryed again, no-go. I uninstalled thee app and reinstalled, no-go. I even tryed to figure out how to contact the developer to let him know about my problem but could not figure out how to contact him. DOes anyone have any suggestions as to what might be going on? Thank you, Brian HOwerton

Take the app out of the app switcher, and completely reset your phone. Not restore, just reset. I don't have that issue on my iPhone 5, nor my iPad 4th gen.

Hi, mentioned in a previous comment, to warm reset your phone, hold down the home and lock buttons for atLeast 10 seconds, then wait for your phone to restart.

You may have to completely restore your phone, then. That's the only solution I can think of that might fix it.

Okay, how do I go about resetting? Does that mean I will have to reset all my settings and things like that? There are several choices under the reset menu so not sure exactly which one to try. Thanks, Brian

Are you running iOS 6, or iOS 6.0.1? If not, I don't believe the app works without it. If you aren't, upgrade to iOS 6.0.1 before trying the app again. to do this, go to settings and then software update. you'll be able to download the update from there. If you're running iOS 6 and still have the problem, simply try holding your home button and lock screen buttons together for about 5 to 10 seconds and your phone will restart. Give those a try.

Hey Tunehead, I reset my phone, I got voiceover back on and I was getting ready to try the app again. But first, it looks like I have to reset al my settings. I have a couple of questions about that. The first thing is how do you lock the phone in to portrait mode? The other thing is every few seconds, my voiceover keeps saying Screen dimmed, how do I turn this off, and also how do I turn off the screen lock so that it won't lock every few seconds? After I get all of this set I plan to try the app again. When I reset my phone, does it automatically go back to IOS 5 because before I reset, I actually was running Ios 6.0.1 or whatever the latest Ios update was.

All of the stuff you want to change should be found under settings. As for orientation lock, you'll need to go into the app switcher for that. I've never quite understood why apple put that setting in there but so it goes. Open the app switcher, and then do a 3 finger swipe to the right. You'll hear voiceOver make a noise, and you'll know you're in the right place when VoiceOver says, page 2 of 3. swipe right a couple times and you'll find the orientation lock button so go ahead and double tap that now. It wasn't easy for me to do this at first, I needed lots and lots of practice. so keep trying it if you don't succeed the first time. You will get it. But yeah, as long as you're running the latest version of iOS you're good to go.
Personally, before going down the full restore road, I would try deleting the app altogether from my phone, then maybe do the simple hard reset by holding the home and power buttons down together for ten seconds, (which does not effect settings), then go into the App Store and download the app again.

Hey Brian, it seems that you have worked very hard on this app [YouPlayer] After doing so, if you are unable to get success, forgive me if you didn't like my suggestion, but its just my suggestion. Please try iTube, perhaps you will like it! this App works very well with VoiceOver. The only thing is that since it downloads the videos on the device, you'll have to keep clearing the search & the history tabs after usage. Hope this helps!
