You have spelled Karen or Karin two different ways so that’s a bit confusing. There is an Acapela Karen, U.S. but the one I normally use is the Australian Karen. That sounds more natural to me than the other voices.
I went through a phase last year where I had my iPhone, my MacBook Pro, my Alexa device, and the NVDA voice on my Bootcamp Windows all set to a Karen-esque voice. I cannot really say if the Alexa female Australian voice is Karen, but it is very close. 😅
Karen is so unresponsive compared to all the other voices on my device. It takes about a quarter of a second before she finally decides to react to my gestures. Anyone having the same problem?
“ Can you even use the Acapela voices on the iPhone?”
Yes, it’s works with Voice Dream Reader. It’s not one I normally choose but I do like Karen Australia very much. Now if we could listen to everything narrated by Alexa that would be my first choice for everything that uses synth voices.
I was obviously trying to ask whether you could use Karen with VoiceOver. Otherwise there are a ton of other voices you can use with several apps like Speech Central, Speechify, Google Assistant and ChatGPT.
I seem to recall her compressed version sounding rather arrogant and stuck-up sometimes, but her bigger version is more excited. I've never even heard of Karen from Acapella.
I'm sorry everyone. I know Karen is a popular voice, and normally I do like Austrailian accents on real human people. But we all have our opinions regarding voices, and I just find Karen (all three Karen voices) sounds too boring. I do not like the fact that Karen compact can actually distinguish between question marks and other punctuation but not the enhanced or premium voices. I have a friend who loves Karen. I love this friend dearly, but she makes me listen to Karen on her ipad all the time. Although, she does switch it occasionally.
I used Karen for a long while on my Mac after realising that the voice seemed so much louder and clearer than the one I was using at the time (possibly Kate). This was likely pre-Ventura as the premium one wasn't available then. I can't quite remember why I switched - likely because I was playing around with the new Ventura voices. But I think it is preferable to use a voice in your own region due to some of the little nuances you get. I've ended up on Serena Premium which isn't too bad, but I still think Karen is a better voice than any of the British ones. The Apple British voices (particularly the female ones) are just so posh.

I no longer use Karen, but I am guessing it is an iOS issue. 🤷🏼♂️
