Which is the best navigation app to use when traveling by bus in the UK?

hi all, i have noted when on the bus here in the UK and we are driving along something is lacking when I use RNIB navigator. say, for example (and sorry to use peoples names here), i am on alex street and brian and william street are coming up on the left and right at an intersection. if we turn left RNIB navigator is not working as i would expect, like trekker, and saying after playing a sound you are on alex street, as we have turned left. it just seems to go on to the new street and just tell me bill and ben street, left and right, without automatically telling me we have turned left and are on alex street now before the new crossings, does all this make sense? i need to know this information so i know when to get off my bus. will blind square, as a consequence, tell me what street we are on if just in an explore mode with no route active, plus what cross streets are around?

Have you tried using the MoovIt public transport app? It has a feature that tells you when you get to your stop and the app is free.

Hi James 30, I have the Move It app. How do you set it to announce your bus stop? Or is there a Hpodcast tutorial?

As a quite new bus traveller in the UK, my favourite trick is to disembark from the stop and then mark it as a place in BlindSquare. BlindSquare will start tracking the stop at the distance you set, and it is easy to know where to get off. Incidentally, BlindSquare will usually tell you the street you turn onto.

Moovit is awesome. Note the spelling is with double o, and it has no letter e. Be careful when looking for it.
After choosing a destination point or stop the app will give you three route suggestions. When you select the one you like most make sure the switch that says "get notifications" is enabled and then press start directions. If you're on a bus or trains it usually notifys the stop before yours and then your stop.

The best part of this app is that you can use it in many cities of the world without needing to install a navigation app per city or country. You can check the cities it supports on the settings screen.
