hi.
I have an issue with apple podcasts where I can't see the description of the podcast once I've subscribed to it so I phoned apple accessibility and after hanging up by accident, then phoneing back just to be put through to the wrong department, I finally got through to them.
I explained my issue to the woman and from what she told me, once you subscribe to a podcast the describtion of that podcast disappears because the itunes store, which is where all podcasts come from decides that, "hey, you know that podcast you've subscribed to? Yeah; you're not going to see the description of it anymore."
When I asked her "but wait; what if you've subscribed to 100 podcasts and forget what they're about?" She told me that that isn't what people do, they listen to each podcast and then decide if they want to subscribe, no really? You don't say.
But let's say you've decided to subscribe to a podcast and don't listen to it for a week cause you've got other things going on, then you come back to it and you have 10 podcasts, then what?
There's a podcast called the thruth, what's it about? Telling the truth? Perhaps how to learn when someone isn't telling the truth? Or, and I know this one is shocking but, it could be a audio drama podcast... Yeah, it's an audio drama podcast...
How would you get that from just the name alone? You wouldn't, so the description is needed.
Hell, this app can't even make OPML files.
Over the years I've downloaded downcast and overcast, they're alright but I like apples way of reading the summery of each eppisode, I think with overcast you have to flick down to info then double tap on it, i'm not sure about downcast.
SO what app or apps do you use and why?

Downcast?
Hi!
have used Downcast but I am using Apple podcast because it is synchronized with my Homepod.
Interesting.
If you buy apps for Google, Apple or Amazon stuff these days there's a speaker for them.
Overcast
I use Overcast. I think that is the best in terms of audio processing. I like to listen podcast at high speed and I feel that overcast doesn't distortion the audio as others apps do. Also I find it very accesible.
I have used castro for a long time too. It's a good app, specially if you are subscribed to a lot of podcasts, it has an inbox interface that makes easy ordinate them. I changed to overcast because I think that works best with VO.
What podcast app or apps do you use?
Overcast without a doubt has the most features and is very accessible. The thing I always point out on my posts is try the different apps and see what you like. The three most talked about are Overcast, Downcast and the native podcast app. Try them all and see which one works best for you or which interface is easiest to navigate with VoiceOver. If you want audio processing like volume matching, the ability to speed up podcasts without losing quality, skip silence, etc. Overcast is the app for you. If you prefer listening to a podcast at normal speed the native podcasts app will probably work best. Try them all. If you don't like one or two you can delete the apps. I have tried all 3 and prefer Overcast by a long shot, but others may prefer Downcast.
castro
hello, castro is very accessible and usable.
I'm trying castro.
Thanks everyone, I'm trying castro and finding it works wlel for me, the only thing is, I think overcast has a better volume boost thing, so if I get tired of castro; I can switch to overcast.
I switched back to overcast.
It has a very nice boost feature that I think is great!
Apple podcasts
I use the Apple podcasts app to listen to all my favorite podcasts. I like how you can navigate every podcast by chapter.
