I personally use Sports Scores & Alerts. Mostly accessible and usually updates in real time. I don’t really use the alerts feature of the app, but mainly use it to check scores for baseball, football, hockey, etc.

I use Sports Scores & Alerts exclusively for checking sports scores updates.

I've found Apple's new native app to be very good. Granted I've not had the time to check as of late, but this app seems to do the trick very well. I haven't done this yet, but I think you can link it with the TV app to watch live events.

I use https://sportscore.io/ to keep track of sports. It updates in real-time, so I always catch everything. The app is easy to use and has a simple layout. You can find scores and stats for your favorite teams quickly. It covers a lot of sports, like football, basketball, and tennis. I've tried other apps, but this one works best for me. If you want to stay updated with the latest scores, it's worth checking out.

I like Apple Sports' simplicity - the scores are right there without any faffing about. However, the amount of competitions feels very limited. As a football (as in soccer) fan I'm interesting in my team and all competitions they are in, as well as European cups and internationals. When I last looked I could select my team and the Premier League and that was it. So no FA Cup, no Champions League, don't think it had internationals either.

When you actually drill down into a match, it is easy to see who scored, when and what time the game is at. But you don't get any great sense of what is going on. It feels a bit geared towards gambling which isn't my kind of thing.

On the other hand, BBC Sports has absolutely everything in it - not just live scores but all sorts of news and stuff. As such you have to go find the scores if you want them, so not quite the instant gratification of Apple Sports but it's usually not too bad. When you get to a game, the text commentary is very detailed and gives an excellent sense of what is going on. Having said that, I've not used it for a while so I'm not sure how well the live updates work with VoiceOver. But it will have pretty much every game in every sport in it somewhere.

However, if it's a Liverpool game or if England are playing in the finals then I will listen to the audio commentary. For everything else I just tend to ask my Echo. If Apple Sports had more competitions I would likely use it more.

Can anyone provide links for apps?

There was a demo of this app on the RNIB Tech Talk podcast yesterday. It's not perfect as it has some unlabelled buttons, although screen recognition helps. One interesting thing they mentioned is that some events have live audio commentary through the app.

I had a quick play with this and Sports Alerts and didn't really immediately take to either. I was trying to find the score for the England friendly last night and just got lost in all the menus.

Screen recognition had got turned off somehow so maybe that didn't help.
