dictation is better if siri is used, otherwise it can be very problematic. I have issues using the touch keyboard and don't want to use a bluetooth keyboard. i have had some amusing responses to my dictated messages.

I use dictation for much of my typing. I was hoping I could use Fleksy, but there are still some kinks in that, and so I use dictation a lot. I feel a little exposed using it in public spaces, but then I usually have no need for typing at those times. I rarely have a dictation error, and if I do, it's usually my fault. I have only tried using English language dictation.

For me, dictation works very well. I use it pretty often and it's a lot quicker than typing things. :)

I agree with the posts above: Generally speaking, dictation works pretty well. Though there may be a few errors here and there, they aren't difficult to correct. The languages seem dependent on the ones Siri can speak. I tried Spanish before, but I haven't used it as extensively. My overall experience is that it's very good, too.

Hi Liel
As everybody are agree that dictation work very well actually work incredibly well.
Just one clarification about it.
Every time when you want to dictate and different language first need to switch on the iOS natibe keyboard
on the option located on the buttom
Next Keyboard follow for the language
before to start dictating have to make some changes under settings app
Settings//General// Keyboard//add new keyboard
to set how many Keyboard languages are you going to use.
Let say I want to dictate a sentence starting with English Language
the default keyboard needs to set in English US or other English language I can't dictate thinking that dictation is going to recognize other sentence in different language.
I use dictation on 3 differents languages with a minmal error when dictation recognize the text.

I love the dictation feature and use it whenever I'm alone. Sometimes I dictate parts of a message and type the words I think the software won't recognize.
Marco has explained it very well. Dictation works for all languages that can be set up in the Iphone keyboard settings. If you don't change the keyboard first, you will get funny results because it would be like dictating Italian words to someone who only speaks English LOL

It Works very well with Turkish. It seems to type 1 to words that it doesn't understand.

Hi all! As it's the first time I post here, I'm going to introduce to you quickly! My nime is Carine, I come from Nice, france, and I'm a apple jeck, as all of you here! I'm blind, and I use voiceover, on an iphone 5s, and on an ipad air 2nd generation, and it works very well!
I have got a macbook pro retina from 2014, too!
as everyone here, I want to share my experience with dictation on ios8.1.1 !
I often use it, and I have to say that it works perfectly, even if sometimes, it makes some mistakes in the text, but it dosn't matter, I read back it, and I correct it!
However, it seems to work better on my ipad air 2nd generation, maybe because of the powerfulness of the processor!
TTYS!
Carine

I've briefly tried out dictation on my iPhone 7 running the latest build of iOS 11. It seemed to work okay, but there were a few errors. I'm thinking I'll try this out for my log-in credentials on various websites. For whatever reason, I just cannot seem to grasp the idea of having to type on the phone where there is no QWERTY keyboard available. I have been trying out various websites, and haven't gotten it to appear much if at all. I can't seem to get the Touch ID thing to work properly either. for my log-in credentials So I hope I can use dictation with no problem after lots of practice.

The more you correct siri’s errors, the fewer mistakes siri makes

I have had no good relationship with Siri owing to my accent. :) Can someone tell me how do I correct Siri as many posters keep talking about it?

By Bruce Harrell on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 - 12:29

You have to use the IOS keyboard to correct SIRI's mistakes. for example if SIRI gives "flashed" instead of "flushed", you have t delete the "a" and type a "u".

I don't know if this has changed, but if I turn off my iPhone or if I turn off VoiceOver, I lose whatever SIRI has learned. This may have been fixed. I don't know because I haven't turned them off in quite a while.

Hope this helps.

I can some up my experiences in one brief sentence. The more you use Siri and dictation, the better they become with your individual accent. One more tip, do not get in a hurry. Speak slowly and concisely Siri and dictation will get your sentences correctly most of the time.

I wonder why the dictation feature is so. praised around here. Honestly Google does a much much better job and is able to recognize multiple languages at once. I don't want to bash on Apple but the stt (speech to text) variant that Apple uses is really really bad in comparism.
