Hi All,
Hope everyone is well and the weather is being kind - although if like me you're in the UK you are probably fed up of the heat and sun and long for a typical British summer :)
Release 4.9.4 is out and I spent a lot of time adding some features from my backlog as well as polishing VoiceOver and accessibility.
VoiceOver and accessibility
There’s a lot of polish in this release:
Pantheon gods
Each Weather God now speaks its name and where it’s looking, then UV, pollen, rain chance, and other readings as you swipe — without VoiceOver trying to describe the artwork.
Location search
Search announces progress and how many places were found, with clearer empty and error states, a Close action, and guidance to return to the search field.
Bulletin
Three-finger swipe up or down moves through favorite locations — same pattern as Pantheon — with loading and place announcements.
Weather Wheel
- Swipe hour by hour
- Three-finger up/down to change day
- Actions rotor: Previous / Next day, Scroll to Start / End, Back to the Pantheon, and Customise hour details
- Optional spoken weather alerts at noon and midnight (on by default; toggle in Weather Wheel VoiceOver settings)
- Focus stays on the hour you’re reading
Weather Timeline (Charts)
Open Charts from the menu on Pantheon, Weather Wheel, or Bulletin. With VoiceOver: pick a day, then move hour by hour. Actions for Previous / Next day; two-finger Z returns to the day strip.
Tropical storm track
There’s now a Track points list you can move through, with Observed and Forecast Track rotors, and the latest observed position marked clearly — much more reliable than trying to explore map markers alone.
Widgets and charts
Almanac and Lunar widgets speak full day lengths and phase dates. UV widgets announce today’s peak UV and when it occurs. Minutely charts say precipitation in full units instead of abbreviated letters. Large pollen widgets speak pollen types before the weekly outlook. Offline / cached data is announced when it may be outdated.
New and updated features
Almanac
Almanac is now a proper day book you can browse by date. Pick a day for sun and moon (rise, set, paths, phases), near-term tides (with spring or neap when it applies), eclipses when they’re coming up, and same-day observances you can filter by tradition in Settings.
Sky Notes live on each Almanac day too — which planets and constellations are visible, with direction information, so you get a spoken sense of what’s in the sky without needing the map. There’s a Glossary from the Almanac footer if you want plain-language explanations.
From the footer you can also open Solar Events, Seasons & Full Moons, the Lunar Calendar, and Tides. Home Screen and Lock Screen Almanac / Lunar widgets are included (Small through Extra Large on the Home Screen).
Typical Weather and Lookback (Premium, in Almanac)
Two climate helpers sit alongside the forecast:
- Typical Weather — for US places, what’s usual for that month: highs, lows, rain and snow, in plain language (mild, warm, chilly, and so on). Handy when you’re wondering “is this normal?”
- Lookback — what this calendar date was like last year, worldwide: highs, lows, rain and wind.
Open Almanac for your place and browse to a day to find them.
Pollen forecast (Premium, beta)
This is new for Weather Gods. You get daily pollen with tree, grass, and weed levels, top allergens for your place, and a multi-day outlook — worldwide coverage while it’s in beta.
Ways in:
- Main menu → Pollen, or the leaf button at the bottom of the Pantheon
- Readings on the Air God as you explore the Pantheon
- Weather Wheel pollen ring
- Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, plus Apple Watch complications
- Siri / Shortcuts for a quick spoken summary card
Large pollen widgets speak the pollen types before the weekly outlook. Included with Premium while pollen is in beta — feedback welcome.
Meet the Weather Gods
Double-tap Air, Water, Ice, Fire, or the Moon Goddess on the Pantheon for a detail card — outlooks, charts, and a jump into the Timeline.
Weather Timeline
Multi-pane charts for temperature, precip, wind, UV, sun strength, air quality, solar, lunar, and more. Reorder panes or use Storm / Sky / Comfort presets.
Also in this release: Offline Weather (cached forecasts when you’re offline), Wet Bulb / heat stress, Sun Strength on the Fire God card, Health & Comfort widget, Weather Radio fixes with Nearby NOAA stations, AirNow for current AQI in the US/Canada/Mexico, an Air Quality Siri shortcut, smarter UV widgets, and a tide station map details fix.
Full notes are in the app under Settings → Release Notes (and the What’s New sheet after update).
As always, if something with VoiceOver feels off or you’d like a gesture to work differently, reply here or email support — accessibility feedback from this community shapes a lot of what we ship.
Finally, many thanks to our beta testers, there has been a lot of stuff to test - it's very much appreciated. Scott

Kitchen sink
This WG version is very stable. No issues that I see in my 16 pro max with 26.6. Also no issues with watch 11 and OS 26.6. I am looking forward to see how it will act with iOS 27 and Siri. The only thing it does not have is the kitchen sink. Again very stable beta and public version.
kitchen sink
thanks for the feedback Holger ... might be working on the kitchen sink :)
I have loved this app for a long time
I have had this app for several years now at least, and I have loved it since day one. I have always liked the idea of personification and metaphor, so this caught my attention just for that reason. Then I open the app for the first time and it's like I have all the things I need right at my fingertips. I have tried a few weather apps, but I always come back to this one. The gods just communicate what you need in a quick and understandable way. Then the details and additional info keeps growing.
App Feedback
Hi Leela, thanks for the lovely feedback. Hopefully you will find lots of useful stuff in the new update.
awesome job as always
enjoying this new version on my 17 pro max.
Keep up the awesome work
Weather Gods
Hello everyone.
I decided to revisit after using Carrot for a while. However upon first launch I am asked to choose how to set the location, which quickly disappears and is replaced by Weather Gods data provided by a certain data source, and now nothing is happening. Restarted several times with no success. Downloaded most recent version from App Store. iPhone 16+ running 26.6 .
Thanks and I await your response.
Startup issues
hi Christopher
Can you recall which location choice you made?
if you selected GPS then can you check the iOS settings for weather gods location services.
if manual then did you get a chance to enter a location?
if it's hanging on launch then its usually because it can't determine your GPS location.
Scott
Re startup issues
Hi Scott.
As usual thanks for your prompt assistance.
It will not let me even choose how to set the location; it literally hangs on launch. By the way, it says data supplied by Xweather, Geonames, Weatherusa.
Thanks again.
Re startup issues
Ah, sorry about that. it does seem like its got itself stuck. I think an uninstall and reinstall will be needed. Lets me know how it goes please. I'm just trying a fresh install myself.
Update re startup issues
Hi Scott.
So I am now up and running, but I had to turn off location services altogether just to get past first launch. I suggest this to be a bug since it currently hangs when location services is switched on and you attempt to launch Weather Gods for the first time.
Thanks again for your assistance.
Re: Update re startup issues
thanks Christopher, that good to know, I will investigate.
Settings
Double tap menu then you should see settings.
more and more keeps getting added
Again, good work, Scott! The only other weather app I use is Weather Guardian, and the reason is that I can get a very good description of weather radar using Voice-Over. Otherwise Weather Gods is my go to weather app on my iPhone 16 pro using iOS26.6
Christopher Hallsworth
Probably did it but did you do restart of phone turn off and on locations before you open WG. Had this issue a long time ago in my watch. Removing the app on watch and reinstalling it help. I am not getting any bugs related to location, also go to your history, delete past history and do locate me again.
Having the same start up issue
Hi Scott. I am also unable to get the app started. I am having the sane issue as Christopher. I also emailed you off list did you get my email? I tried turning location services off but I still can’t get weather gods to start. Cheers from Snowy
Startup issues
hi Snowy
Good to hear from you! I haven't received an email - which address did you send to?
Regarding the startup issues, has it been a while since you last used WG, I'm wondering if there is something in that area?
In any case, I think the best solution is a complete uninstall and re-install, with a data delete as well (in iOS storage settings). Clearly there is some state information preventing the startup from completing. Sorry I cant be more helpful.

Contacting you
Hi scott how do I contact you off forum. Maybe I got an old email for you. Cheers from Snowy

help needed?
I've been using wg since it was first created several years ago and as others have said it's my main weather source. There are some things that have been added in some of the latest updates that I'm not sure how best to use though so is there anywhere I can go to read up on how to get the most out of the app and the new updates?
One thing that pops to mind right away as something that I'm not sure if I'm getting the best out of is the AI forecasts, I haven't used AI much at all for anything so that could be the problem but I just feel like I've fallen behind in the last few updates and should be getting a lot more out of the app than I currently am.
help needed
Hi Troy,
The app now has a very comprehensive set of release notes under settings, about, release notes.
The bigger items which are new / changed recently
- global pollen forecast
- offline weather
- re-worked almanac with more information e.g. sky notes, stars, eclipses etc
- health and comfort widget
- many more smaller updates and bug fixes
Regarding the AI stuff, the important note is that all the data used to generate the AI forecast is provided by weather gods and the prompting ensures strict adherence to this weather data. It's like giving the weather data to a weather forecaster and they turn that into a conversational style, I personally quite like it. Its also available through Siri (shortcuts) so you can get a great forecast through your speaker, headphones etc
There is a try mode for the AI weather text which walks you through the process. its off the top right menu, couple of slots down.
Feel free to ask more here or using the direct email admin@weathergods.cloud.

Crashes etc
Hi All,
Apologies but some gremlins crept into the recent release. I'm seeing crashes with VoiceOver weather wheel and some startup issues (Christopher and Snowy).
Just preparing a 4.9.5 update which should resolve these issues.
A workaround for the weather wheel issue is to use the bulletin which gives the hour by hour or the new timeline in pantheon which can also give hour by hour across a series of configurable datapoints.
If you have weather gods set to launch into the weather wheel, then double tap and hold on the WG icon and choose pantheon.
Thanks
Scott
Re crashes etc
Thanks Scott for doing what you do. Just to add, it is also crashing at first launch on my iPad, 10th Generation, even if location services is disabled. I shall await the 4.9.5 update.
Release Update
Hi All,
The bug fix release 4.9.5 is now on the App Store.
If people can let me know either way if its fixed stuff that would be great please.
Thanks
Scott
