Hi All,
Hope you're all having a good Sunday.
3.8 has been released with a number of new features.
The most interesting feature is Local Storm Reports (USA only) which have been included (free of charge) in the Extended Forecast subscription. For those not familiar with local storm reports ... "Local Storm Reports (LSR) as transmitted by the National Weather Service (NWS). These reports are received from storm spotters, such as amateur radio operators, storm chasers, law enforcement, emergency management, or citizens about severe weather conditions in their area."
Weather Gods will display these in a separate tab on the storm threats screen. These are local to your area and display in date time order, with the latest at the top. You get all sorts, such a local flooding, trees down, power outage, roads closed in addition to any local severe weather reports such as tornados, large hail, thunder etc Each report can be shared using the Apple sharing screen, so you can send them to friends, family, share on twitter etc
Other features, sharing has been enhanced to allow for the sharing of weather alerts, and for VoiceOver users I will no longer automatically share a screen shot. This can be turned back on in settings if you want to share them.
There is also a new setting in units, which gives more precise temperature readings - this was a feature requested on AppleVis and I managed to implement without too much trouble.
Finally, there are a number of bugs fixes and improvements, including better navigation of weather alerts for VoiceOver users. The previous version was a bit cumbersome, hopefully this is smoother and more intuitive.
As always, a massive thanks to our beta testers and translators, it's very much appreciated. Thank you.
I hope you enjoy the update and find the local storm reports useful, especially now we have storm threats as well.
