Weather Gods 2.1

Hi All,

2.1 should be hitting the App Store today.

Updates of interest:

- Polish localisation
- Severe weather alerts for Poland and Ireland
- Custom data points for the Voiceover smart Apple Watch complication. You can choose what data is included in the Weather Gods section in the Apple Watch App. There is now a dedicated section for Voiceover complications.
- Support for Siri cards on the Apple Watch Siri watch face
- Improvements to various Voiceover labels - hopefully some things a little clearer now
- Weather Alert details now include the urgency and certainty of a weather alert.
- We fixed the Siri Shortcuts which seemed to have stopped working in the last release, sorry
- We improved the details text for International non-English weather alerts

We have also switched on County weather alerts for the USA. It does mean you might see a few more alerts, but we think it's better to have the information than not have it.

The app will automatically update your places and setup county alerts. This is the one I'm a little nervous about. I've not had problems in testing, but if anything is to go wrong, it would be here. It happens during startup of the new update.

If you do run into problems e.g. hanging app, then please force quit and restart Weather Gods and send me a support email and I can see what state we are at.

I'm also away on business for two days (the day job), but will try to be as responsive as I can on emails etc

James and I hope you enjoy the update and if you haven't left a review, we would love to get some feedback on the App Store. It helps with search rankings which in turn helps with sales, At the moment we need every sale possible to keep our servers running and pay for the weather data. If you have left a review, then thank you - it is much appreciated.

Thanks, Scott, for continualy providing such an excellent product. I do have one question, though. A lot of times when I start the app, I will hear sounds of pending rain and thunder. However, when I go into the weather wheel, the sounds will change. Why would they be changing from going into the weather wheel? Thanks.

Hi sockhopsinger

That could be our startup sound. Visually the home screen loads, there is a crash of thunder and a bolt of lightning and the weather gods suddenly appear amidst the lightning flash.

Unless this is additional thunder and rain sound you are hearing after the startup sound?

Nice job. I will check how it works on my watch 3. Like always you do a nice job that even my cat Bella likes to hear the weather and she does not like much. When are you going to test the app with iOS 13 and OS 6? I heard that new faces are coming out.
PS alerts for cat fer in my place be nice.

Hi Holger,

Once this release has settled down I will turn my attention to the new stuff from Apple, including I hope to have Weather Gods on the Mac.

Glad to hear Bella is a fan :)

Hi. It's not the starting sound. That plays out as I expect It is usually when the forecast calls for rain at some point during the day. What happens is the sound will play indicating rain even though nothing is happening outside. Then, whenI click the weather wheel button, the rain sound stop and the very cloudy sound starts to play. I hope that explains it better.

Ah, ok, I understand.

The only thing I can think of is the app is playing the weather for the day sounds (rain) and when the wheel is clicked it switches to playing the current hourly sounds. However, even that doesn't seem right as I assume you are on the now screen.

The only other thing I can think is that the home screen will play the weather sounds for the upcoming hour whereas the wheel always plays the sound for the current hour when it is opened. These might be different.

When it next happens, would you mind advancing the wheel to the next hour to see If it matches the sounds when the app loaded please?

Thanks

The Mac version will have to be sold through the Mac App Store and it's not currently possible with Apple to treat them as the same app purchase.

That might change nearer the time with the release of iOS13. If Apple have that option then we wouldn't expect you to have to repurchase. We don't charge more if you have the iPhone and iPad versions so I hope the Mac would be similar.

I'm super excited to see another update! Because I go between so many cities, and need to know what's going on on an hour by hour basis, this is my go to app when it comes to all things weather. And I'm pretty sure I've only scratched the surface of what it can do; i just don't need all the advanced features.
I'm glad you guys are making it better so when the time does come that I may need some of these more advanced features they are ready for me.

What are the "Siri cards"? Thanks. Also, don't pay any attention to Bella. She is just a little Furface, and she is always running her motor, and I have not heard her meow very much. I do like cats, and she does have a very loud purr, but she doesn't say much. This is a great app, for sure.

The cards are part of the Siri Watch Face. You get a stream of cards throughout the day describing things such as calendar appointments, suggestions for activities and now weather, from Weather Gods :)

Some people like them but personally I prefer the regular complications.

Yes the app is great and I am sure it will be better with iOS 13. Will be updates come up from the watch store instead of iPhone? Bella has great taste in apps and she states"Charles is nuts."

Good question about the Watch Store - not sure at the moment, but, yes, I imagine it would. I might have to change the code so the Watch App can work without the Phone App ... something I need to think about, hmmm.

So glad this app will become available on the Mac, and I'm actually pretty sure I've got enough dough to purchase it when it does. I just listened to this year's WWDC keynote, and am so looking forward to Mac OS Catalina and iOS 13. I like the native iOS weather app, but Weather Gods is my go-to 3rd-party app!
