I'm interested in learning how to use safari because there are times when I don't have access to anything but my phone for getting online. Can anybody recommend any extreme beginner tutorials done from a blindness perspective?
it's quite simple, if you can use the roter you can use Safari.
Remember, the address bar is top left.
Once you've typed in what you're searching for and pressed ender on go or the bottom right, use your roter until you hear headings, then flick down through them until you find what you want then double tap.
Now you should be able to swipe through the page like you're swiping through your apps, swipe left you go left, swipe right you go right, or is it up and down? Either way you'll get tthe hang of it once you play around a bit.
I probably just need practice with the roter, I've had an iPhone for about 4 years now but I've just always felt more comfortable getting online with my computer so I hardly ever use the phone for that.
When I say I've never mastered the roter, I just can't get used to putting my fingers on the screen and turning them like I'm turning a dial like is described when using the roter. I probably just need to practice, after all practice makes perfect right?
Thanks Brad, I have a bluetooth keyboard so I'll try your suggestion, I'll just have to find out where the keys I'll need to use are on my keyboard and then find out how to perform the actions needed.

Using Safari.
The roter is very helpful when navigating around a web page. My only problem is sometimes focus jumps around so you lose your place.
navigating without the roter?
I never have mastered the roter, is there an alternative method to using safari rather than using the roter?
Thanks.
Not really.
I mean you can flick right through the entire page but that could take a long time.
What's the issue for you with the roter?
It does.
And now ios 14 is here it's even worse sometimes.
my roter issue

yeah it can be a bit strange but you'll get used to it if you practise enough.
You can also connect a bluetooth keyboard to the Iphone and use the roter that way.
I think it's up and left, for twist left and up and right for twist right or it could be down and left for left and down and right for right.
Re bluetooth keyboards
Thanks Brad, I have a bluetooth keyboard so I'll try your suggestion, I'll just have to find out where the keys I'll need to use are on my keyboard and then find out how to perform the actions needed.
I think there's a voiceover keyboard guide.
Here it is: http://pauljadam.com/demos/voiceovercommands.html
You can also change the finger actions.
You can reasign the gestures, I think it's under accessibility/voiceover but that's all I know, sorry.
