iOS and iPadOS
Hello All,
This seems to be a new feature of Apple Maps. In fact the tech guy at Apple Accessibility was surprised to find it too. Maybe it's new with the 7.1 upgrade.
Anyway, I believe it's a few flicks to the right from the "Directions" button in Apple Maps, I also find I can get walking directions when I ask Siri something like
"I need walking directions from here to thus and such an address or name of restaurant in the town I live in.
I don't know if this is available worldwide. I live in the Northeastern U.S. I think I also noticed is some reference to it now in Blind Square's latest version. I'm fumbling around with this a lot cuz I'm not very good a navigation apps yet. But I thought I'd mention it here. Maybe some person who is good with Apple Maps and navigation will do a podcast on this. I will be the first to listen to it two or three times. It seems very useful, but is tough to get used to.
Cordially,

Just Getting My Feet Wet with Maps
Hi everyone. I have briefly looked over the Maps application on my Mac, and to be honest it doesn't seem bad at all. I'm talking both in terms of accessibility and in terms of functionality. I especially like the fact that it seems to be location-based. Not to dwell on this too much, but I haven't had much if any formal orientation&mobility instruction for several years and I'm quite honestly starting to feel a bit self-conscious about that. I mean, I know it's not my fault, but people have been on me about getting out a lot more and breaking out of my comfort zone. I guess the confusing thing about the Maps app at this point is that there seems to be something about the Pacific Islands, which isn't even halfway near where I live. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that absolutely, I'd welcome with open arms a podcast or some sort of tutorial for newbies.
When using BlindSquare āPlan
When using BlindSquare āPlan a Routeā, if I choose Apple maps for turn by turn directions I get No spoken directions.
Spoken walking directions work fine if I choose Google maps, or if I use Apple Maps without BlindSquare, so it canāt be my iPhone.
My problem is only when starting Apple Maps from BlindSquare.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Can you tell me how to get product support for BlindSquare?
Thanks for any help, Barry.
