This particular Voiceover thing is driving me a little mad, and I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this or if there is a fix I haven't found...
I type using the direct touch typing mode, and I have my typing echo set to words, but I'm finding if I make a mistake, sometimes it's auto corrected and sometimes not, but even when it's not, voiceover is reading the corrected option when I press space, even if that's not what has actually typed. For example, let's say I'm trying to write the word looking, but hit the o instead of the i, so I've typed lookong, but when I press space, Voiceover says looking so I think it has auto corrected, but then when I read the message back it has not. The typing echo is misleading and meaning I'm having to go back and make edits at the end, when the whole point of the typing echo is that I shouldn't have to do that.
Does this make sense? Is anyone experiencing this? I really don't want to turn off the predictive or auto correct as some of the time is does correct my typos perfectly, it's just frustrating not knowing if it has or not.
Thoughts welcome

It makes sense
Unfortunately, at least on my iPad Pro with the latest iOS, I can't reproduce it. Do you have speak autotext turned on under accessibility/spoken content/typing feedback?
Try this
Go to settings > General > Keyboard.
Uncheck "Check Spelling".
HTH. 😃
