VoiceOver randomly freezing in iOS 8

Hello all,
Has anyone else encountered Voiceover freezing up while using Safari, twitter and others on iOS8 iPad Air? I mean it no longer speaks and nothing else will either. I have hoped it was a lag issue, but no.

The only fix I have found is a hard reboot and I am now doing this around six times a day. I have ensured the new Speak Screen setting is off also. Any other ideas and fixes appreciated.
Cheers

I am having the same issue, voiceover crashing a lot when using safari. sometimes doing a tripple click on the home button to turn voiceover off and then back on again seems to fix the problem but not ideal

I have an iPad Air, and so long as I don't use a Bluetooth keyboard, VoiceOver behaves just fine, including in Safari. That said, it may make a difference which sites you visit, so maybe the sites I go to are not causing any issues.

Thank you both,
Triple click home didn't improve things for me, and althouugh I'm not using a bluetooth keyboard, turning off bluetooth did help considerably with some lag, but now can't use my Aftershockz blues. I will visit the Genius bar and see if they can fix the issue.

Hi again,
Well, I recreated the above error in-store with a 6+ and another ipad air. Appears to be an iOS bug that needs to be reported to the Apple team.
I have found using Reader stops the Voiceover crashing and freezing up the whole device. Will email Apple about the problem encountered.
Thanks for your help
Cheers

I can go to any web page using Safari, Voiceover and IOS 8, but the moment I hit the back button, all heck breaks loose.
The phone is unresponsive, the headings and links rotor settings don't work, flicking often produces silence or just clicks, it just makes Safari completely unusable on this iPhone 5S. .

Hi,
I have contacted Apple Accessibility who gave me step by step instructions to send them the Crash logs for my ipad air. I have now sent them a 6MB file to assist them in locating the bugs.
Cheers

Seems like the bigger the number gets in iOS and the faster the processors get is also the bigger shaft us blind users are getting... It's just getting ridiculous, bug after bug after bug, seems like as soon as they have for the most part figure them out a week later a whole new operating system comes outthen the roller coaster starts all over again... Everything used to run so smooth and just worked!

Same here on ipad4 ipad mini and iphone5. Sometimes leaving screen untouched for three minutes page will reload and voice restarts. I have reported after each ios update. Also some buttons unresponsive such as save here

I am also having the same problem.
I can go to a webpage with voiceover in safari on iOS but after that when I decide to hit the back button then voiceover freezes.

Hi Guys,

i hope someone can assist me, i have a colleague of mine who depends on voice over 100% of the time because he cannot see. when sending an sms, you can add the contact via the + button in the TO field.
Voiceover reads the contacts when you scroll through the list, however it no longer reads out the contact when you go to the TO: field.

This is a problem whe you want to verify that you have added the correct person, on ios 7, it used to read to, and also the recipient of the sms. we on ios 8.1.1, iphone 5s, 32gb

Any work around/solution will be appreciated.

Regards,

Patrick

This is a bug that has existed since IOS 7X. Glad to know I am not the only one going through it. But has been reported many times. If you can reproduce it without fail. Call and Email Apple accessibility and demonstrate it. Without that, it may never be fixed as its a somewhat random bug.

To say that Apple is Shafting its blind users is unfair. Apple has been actively working on many of these bugs and if we are not reporting them in greater numbers, then they have no reason to fix anything because its all about importance and how many people are reporting bugs. You have every right to be frustrated, but no right to say one thing when the exact opposite is regularly occurring.

I have no love for Apple as its a Corp dedicated to making money and maximizing such. But its upsetting to read such a post when there are many people working hard to report bugs and taking the time to make the voiceover experience better for the majority. Unfortunately, Apple only fixes what a greater number of users reports to them. Why? because if a low number of people make the report, they assume that the issue only affects a small minority so there is no need to bother.

Bugs are being fixed. But all haven't because either there haven't been enough people reporting them or because Apple is unable to fix such issues.

Even when I was using an iPhone 5 I didn't experience some of the things people are encountering, but that's certainly not to say that they don't happen. But seriously...whining about the bugs on here isn't going to fix them. Apple doesn't monitor this website, so they aren't going to see your post, you have to report it to them in the usual way, accessibility@apple.com, or contact apple's tech support team and they might be able to help. I haven't had many problems with my iDevices, but if I do the first thing I would usually do is to reset it to see if that solves the problem. If that still doesn't help, that's when I call apple.
