VoiceOver crashes with iOS 8.1 on iPhone 6

Hello Apple Viz community,
Ever since I got my iPhone 6, I've been having frequent voiceover crashes when browsing web pages on safari and when reading texts continuously with VoiceOver. Has anyone been experiencing similar issues and if so, any suggestions for a solution?

Speech goes off randomly in many apps, phone, mail, etc, and no way to restore it. Sometimes item chooser pops up with no voice either. Any suggestions for functions to deal with this issue? The 2-finger 2 or 3 tap does not seem to turn it back on. Thanks!
