Hi all,
I have an App for the iGrill thermometers by Weber.
When the temperature changes by one degree, Voiceover announces the new value automatically.
I have another App for a pressure sensor, but on this one Voiceover doesn't do that.
My understanding is that this auto speak has to be supported in the App.
I talked to the developer and they told me that they don't have plans to change it.
Does anyone know if there is a workaround it, other than changing the App?
Is there some trick or another App that would run in the background and make this work somehow?
Thanks
John

Automatic speaking of changing values
Did you try putting focus on the number that is changing? I thought that VoiceOver would read new text that is displayed wherever it has focus. If the item does not have focus then I am not surprised that VO wouldn't speak the change unless the developer did something specific to speak the change.

Focus change in iOS
When I move my finger to a new element on the screen, the focus doesn't seem to change, I can read the value by touch, but a value change is not detected by VO.
From what I read, focus change has to be enabled by the developer.
Maybe the Watch Item command can help
Have you tried the Watch Item command?
As far as I know, this is not assigned to a gesture, so I have assigned it to a two-finger quadruple tap myself.
When I want to monitor an element, I just focus on it and do a four-finger quadruple tap. VO then announces every change to the element.
You can check it out by going to settings / accessibility / Voice-over / commands.

Watch item command
Hi DK6,
Thank you for the reply
My iPhone6 doesn't have this feature.
Was told by Apple that it was implemented starting with the 6S.
