Voicemail transcription

Hello everyone, I saw someone mention voicemail transcription under the IOS11 accessibility thread and it reminded me that I have never actually got this to work. I understood it was meant to appear next to the 'more info' button with the voicemail expanded, but I've never seen it. Has anyone else had this problem? If not, could someone please tell me how to work it or point me in the direction of somewhere on this site where it's already been done? It's not a massive issue for me, but it would be nice to be able to have the option sometimes.

What device do you have? To my knowledge, voicemail transcription only works with the iPhone 6S or later.

Hello,

I have an iphone 7 with IOS 10.3.2 on T Mobile.

The VM Transcrition can be found by going to VM tab and double tapping on the VM itself. The VM will start to play and if you swipe to the right a few times, you will find the transcritption.

I find it not useful in most cases as it does not capture everything the caller says.

HTH and good luck.

Thank you. does the VM transcription disappear when the VM has finished playing? I've swiped around before and not found it but will certainly try again. The trouble with swiping when the VM is playing of course is that it defaults to the earpiece rather than the speaker so it's a bit difficult. Incidentally, I have an iPhone 7, I forgot to mention before. thanks for the help.

Hello,

After the VM finished playing. I checked the phone and the transcription was still there. I closed the phone app, opened it up again and when I slected the VM, the transcription was still there.

I am not sure if all carriers supports this feature and I recall T Mobile was charging extra for this. I know I am not paying extra but I still have it. I am thinking it could be like the hot spot thing. Some carriers supports it while others don’t.

HTH and good luck.

I have an iPhone SE and use Verizon. The transcription feature works well.

I have AT&T as my carrier, and the transcription feature seems to be hit-or-miss at least for me. In addition, I've had another rather interesting issue where the voicemails that are left for me will not arrive until well after the fact. This actually worked the way it should only for about 3 days, and that was like 5 years ago when I was living on the top floor in this building. I had hoped for a resolution to this issue when an upstairs neighbor/friend got his own wi-fi last month, but the issue still persists. I'm wondering if it's due to the fact that I am still on the iPhone 7. I say that because this neighbor isn't the only person whose voicemails don't arrive when they should.
