VoiceBook VO Authorization Errors

I have been told that many users are still experiencing problems getting the VoiceBook app to work. The symptom that I am hearing the most of is a message stating that it can't connect to VoiceBook, make sure you have a internet connection, etc. It then mentions an error code of "2500 AuthError" I have been trying to come up with a fix for this. Some people say they have uninstalled and cleared their safari cache, then reinstalled and it works. Others are saying that does not work. I was finally able to reproduce the issue and came up with a fix, although it was a bit complex. I am posting it here hoping that anyone experiencing this issue that is willing can give it a try and let me know if it works. The process is: 1. Remove VoiceBook from the phone. 2. Log onto Facebook. I did this from an actual computer, but the app may allow you to do this as well, but I haven't tested it yet. 3. Open Facebook's settings section and navigate to the "Apps" section. 4. Remove VoiceBook as an authorized application. 5. Download VoiceBook VO from the app store again. 6. Open the app and go through the new user screens. It should ask you to authorize the app again. Go through the authorization process. 7. VoiceBook will then launch as usual. It may pop up a few error messages about bad authorization, but after a few retries it starts working again. One last note: Both of these possible fixes include uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Be aware that if you have purchased the upgrade, that you'll have to go through the process of purchasing the upgrade again. The good news here is that Apple remembers that you have already paid for it, and will not charge you again, although it sure looks like they are going to based on the wording of the prompts. Thanks all! Ben

Hi Ben and all, yay!!!! yay!!! just plain yay!!! it worked just the way you said it would. I followed your directions and removed it from my phone and my apps on facebook, and as you said, a couple times it gave the error then I got out of voicebook and went to my app switcher and took both voicebook and facebook out and again launched voicebook and it worked. thanks I'm a happy girl.

Fantastic news! I have also had three other confirmations, via private e-mails, that the fix is working. So, I think we now have a good fix for this. Everyone, please try to take advantage of this if you are having the Auth issues. Feel free to spread the word. Ben
Also wanted to say that deleting the app from my iphone then from the FB main site did the trick my end too. During the process I discovered lots of apps that I have hardly touched on the main site so got rid of them as well. LOL Thank you for this grate work around! I was just wondering, does the developer of this app have any more plans for this app in the future? I have a couple of suggestions that are purely preference bass in relation to the way Voiceover reads my news feed but other than that I am truely loving this app! Espually the way VO remembers what status you last landed on which I believe the FB app for the Iphone doesn't do or at least not in my case. So a plus for Voicebook VO!

I am the developer of VoiceBook VO, and you're welcome to drop your ideas on me. I have new features coming, but have another active project taking the majority of my time right now, so I can't promise delivery dates at the moment. What are your ideas? Ben

Hi Ben, the idea I simply had and I don't know if your able to do it but would like to here the time of the fb post at the end of the post I'm reading. So it would read like so. Name, post, how many one likes and finally the time of when it was actually posted. I hope this is constructive feedback. :)just thought it would make a better work flow when one is checking their fb news feed. What do you think?

I have had that thought as well. I may try and sneak that into the next version. Perhaps give folks the choice of a few different formats. Ben

Cool, I'm glad you have had this idea before I even mentioned it. So in other words, I guess I'm saying a bit of customisation wouldn't go a miss for the end user. Ben I just want you to know that although I'm not a developer I really appreciate this app and even more for you the one who developed it. Keep up the grate work and I'll be looking forward to the next version in the near future! Thanks Daniel
