First of all, please bear in mind that Voicedream scanner is a really new app but with solid background. The app is well designed but has some drawbacks e.g. you cannot perform the doubletap with two fingers gesture to start and pause reading. I've found that scanning results are better with Voicedream scanner. I'll also use KNFB reader that consumes less battery than a new app. In fact if one does not have any reading app, voicedream scanner is a really good alternative which I think will be getting better.
I like them both. VoiceDream's interface is very simple; something I like. KNFB's user interface got clunky a while ago and they can't be bothered to at least make an effort to fix it despite requests to them. I find the VoiceDream app to be acurate; KNFB as well. If I have time or if I feel like struggling with KNFB's interface, I'll use it. VoiceDream Scanner is quick and 'on the fly'. It's like asking BMW VS Mercedes. I use whatever gets the job done. If KNFB doesn't want to scan a document, I'll use something else to do the job.
Hey there,
thanks all. I already have KNFB and was debating whether to get voice dream scanner or not. I think I won't get it at the present time, since they seem to have equally accurate results.
think knfb has mostly been abandoned, its user interface is clunky, I hate those self voicing controls they force you to have on screen even if we prefer VoiceOver. my biggest issue with it though is that the last update really broke accessibility, so that if I scan something then want to review the results with VoiceOver if I want to flick through the scanned text it only reads me one word at a time when just doing ordinary left to right flicks in portrait mode, I reported this to them at least 3 or 4 times during the beta and they never bothered to fix it. I don't think they can justify there high price anymore especially with various alternative apps out there now. I haven't actually used knfb for at least a year now maybe longer.
