VO Problem on iPod Touch with Dock

Hi All,
I would appreciate some assistance with a VoiceOver problem on a Fifth Gen iPod Touch.

I gifted my Mother the latest iPod Touch and a Phillips Clock Radio for her to play her music. I set Voice Over up for her and taught her the basics. Now she has returned home she has encountered an unexpected problem, a problem that I have been unable to resolve, .

After removing the iPod from the Phillips Clock Radio dock, VoiceOver simply stops speaking.

All other functions of the iPod work: SIRI works and can be clearly heard, music will play, the clicks and chimes from running a finger over the screen are audible, everything seems fine. Except, that is, for the lack of VO announcement.

I have tried asking SIRI to turn VO on and she simply announced that VO was already on.
A reset works, but only until the next time that music is played through the dock and the iPod is removed.
I suspect that it may be something to do with the VO specific volume, but I am yet unable to isolate the root cause, or more importantly, a work around.

This gift for my dear, sweet Mum is promptly turning into a bit of a nightmare for her. I would greatly appreciate any advice.

Have her try holding down the volume up Button as she removes the iPod from the dock. Does this make a difference? Alternatively what about turning voiceover off and then back on again with triple click home? Does voiceover come back then?
Best of luck!

The voiceover might be on, but the speech might have gone off.
To switch speech on or off, simply double tap anywhere on the screen with 3 fingers, hope this helps.
I've got an alternate suggestion for your mom if nothing works...
Just head to settings, go to general, then to accessibility, then scroll down. You will find something called Accessibility shortcuts, tap that, then choose voiceover, this will allow your mom to turn voiceover on or off by simply triple tapping the home button.
So if this same problem occurs just let her triple tap the home button to switch voiceover off , and triple tapping again to turn it back on.
Hope i was of help! Goodluck!

Hi Zaina and Megan,

All fixed now, thank you, thank you, thank you...

With hindsight, the problem was obvious. I believe that, while attempting the three finger swipe up to close Apps in the App Switcher, fumbling fingers were accidentally turning off speech.

Have a great day.
