VO problem on 3 iOS devices

Hi. Remember my post from a few days ago about the gestures problem I was having on 4 different iOS devices that were all previously working good? Well now I am having another problem, but this time it has only hit 3 of my iOS devices. The iPhone 6, the iPhone 4s and the iPod 5. Numerous reboots and resets have done nothing to fix it. In the settings app, VoiceOver decided to quit announcing the state of some toggle switches. Some work properly and some don't. For example, I will get, airplane mode double tap to toggle setting. 2 1 finger swipes right and I will get, bluetooth off, double tap to toggle setting. So as you can see, some switches VO tells me if they are on or off and some switches VO leaves the on or off state up for guessing. I can still toggle the settings with a double tap, but now I have to remember what all my settings are set at so that when I go in to change them I know if I am turning them off or on. This started a few days ago. Before that VO was behaving like it should and telling me the on or off state of all my switches.

Hi Jessica,

I'm not sure whether this is the exact solution or not, But I got the same problem once and after going through the accessibility settings, I've just changed button shapes off and rebooted my phone and everything is ok since then. I accidentally turned that on I think. Just give it a try.

This happened to me in the iCloud tab under settings. Like you, with multiple devices. I reported this bug.
Easy fix though! Do hard reset by holding power/home buttons.. This worked on all my devices.

tried both turning off button shapes and a hard reset. Neither fixed it.

Since this is happening to three devices, what do they have in common? Did you install a new app or tweak on them recently?

Yes. I just installed a new tweak called sharemusix. I did not suspect it, because it is not a VoiceOver or a settings tweak. It's just a little tweak for sharing music or music info from the stock music app. It's exactly what I have been looking for for years and now that it finally came out it comes at the price of compromising the usage of my settings app. I uninstalled it and VO started saying the state of all switches again. Then, just to confirm, I reinstalled it and the problem came back. Very disappointed. The dev will be getting an email from me. That also explains why this problem did not hit my 3gs. It's not jailbroaken and therefor did not have this tweak installed. Now I just have to figure out what is causing my problem with VO gestures that started on all 4 of my iOS devices all at the same time and figure out why when I type on my braille pen there is a huge lag between the time I type the letter and the time my iPhone picks it up. I also have a new one to figure out. In apps like UBIDisk where you can connect 2 iOS devices to do file transfer over bluetooth, VO used to say the name of the bluetooth devices so you could find one to connect to. Now it just sits there saying looking for peers or chose an iPad, iPod or iPhone, but will no longer say device names making connecting 2 devices over bluetooth using a file transfer app or other bluetooth app not doable. however this was my first time using bluetooth apps under iOS 8 so maybe it's an iOs 8 thing.

Hi. Good job on this tweak. I have been waiting for something like this for years. When I use it, it works good. However, I am blind and use my iOS devices and Mac with VoiceOver. With sharemusix not installed, when I go into the settings app, VoiceOver would tell me what is on or off, like airplane mode, wifi, bluetooth and any other on/off switch you can think of. When I installed sharemusix, VoiceOver quit saying if some switches are off or on and would only say the name of the switch. Some still have there on or off state as well as there name announced, but most just have there names. Other apps with on/off switches are also effected. For example, in the stock alarm app I can't tell if my alarms are off or on and in the iFile preferences I can't tell how it is configured. For example, I can't tell if the use trash switch is off or on. I uninstalled and reinstalled sharemusix a few times and the problem always happened when it was installed and not when it was not installed. This is also happening on 3 devices. An iPhone 4s, an iPhone 6 and an iPod 5. They are all on iOS 8.1.2. Please try to fix this. Please email me if you need any more explaining or info. Thank you and once again I love this tweak.
