Using Siri to get exact address to the question "Where am I?"

I am a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist. I have an iPhone 16 that I use with students. I should (I believe) be able to use Siri to get exact address to the question "Where am I?" Instead, it gives me my city and state only. This is a great feature for students who are blind or low vision and need extra help with orientation or to confirm their location. If anyone has any suggestions as to how I can get Siri to give me an exact address when asked, I would truly appreciate it! I do have my location turned on. Thank you in advance!

Hi Jenny. I have two initial thoughts. First, ask Siri "Current Address" and see how it replies. (for me, the reply is the exact current street address). Next, check your Location and Privacy settings in Settings and make sure they are not restricting access to Siri or your "system." If this doesn't fix your problem, we'll keep trying.

I asked SIRI, "what is the street address of my current location?" It gave me the correct street address after turning on the location thing, however, I am connected to the network through my Wi-Fi at the moment. It might be different through the cellular network.

I just asked her and she told me my address. I just ask where I am right now.

Hi,

First, I wish to personally commend you for your open mindedness with regards to technology as an O&M specialist. I, sadly, live in a location where "Travel" is the terminology used, and is highly frowned upon to use tech in any situation.
So kudos to you! 👍

Now for your question, please do the following on your device:
1. Ask Siri, "What is my precise location"?
2. Siri will respond, "I will need a one time access to your precise location, do you allow this"?
3. Say yes, then wait a tick.
4. Siri will respond with, "You are at (Street address + City, and State").

HTH.

The other Brian wrote, in part, regarding O&M training in his area: "highly frowned upon to use tech in any situation." It absolutely floors me that this could still be the case in 2025. I get why basic, non-tech O&M skills must be taught, but once mastered there is no point at all in not adding anything to the mix that makes actual O and M more robust, and when it comes to that, there's nothing like a smartphone. I advocated for the integration of smartphone technology into O&M when I was working at the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind (VSDB) all the way back in 2010, because it was clear that this was definitely the next step/generation in O&M. The Find My app usually gives an address or an address unknown for my iPhone's location. It also shows a little map, presumably with my iPhone's location marked on it.

Naps has a pedestrian function. I imagine it does much the same as Find My. You might want to give it a try, too.

All the way back to 2010? Ha! I remember my O&M instructor in 1976 telling me I needed to learn how to use a cane. That was right after I returned from hitchhiking alone around the US, Europe and Scandinavia for two years.

Joy!

I just tried it myself and Siri did indeed gave me the correct street address together with city/province of my current location.

If Siri doesn't work, try opening Maps. There is a button that should say "current location" that should have your current address. If you click on that, it gives you some options, including a choice to share your location with someone.
