Some time ago, Apple released the Journal app. I haven't heard much about it since.
I'm wondering what uses people have found for the Journal app and how they might use it. I'm also wondering how using the Journal app for these situations compares with using the Notes app which seems to be similar to the Journal app.
Anyway, curious to see how either or both of these apps can be used on a routine basis and what benefits people find.

They serve different purposes...
I first have to admit that I'm not used to journaling.
That said, the Journal app is for writing and keeping memories, while Notes are for, yeah, notes, that shall be used for whatever purpose.
I use the Notes app to store everything from food recepies to Terminal commands to whatever temporary information that I'll have lying around for, yeah, longer than temporary :p
Specific and general
I believe Thomas did a podcast on both a long time ago. Notes more about general notes and now recording. The other about daily life, emotional report and so on.
Not Used Either App Much But...
The reason I've not used these apps much is that I found other similar services. That was prior to the release of Apple's journaling app. That said, these 2 apps as well as the other platforms I use are very accessible at least with VO. Just for the record, those other platforms are--in order of account creation--Dreamwidth, the gratitude journal found at http://www.thnx4.org , and the journaling feature found on the website for A Network for Grateful Living. I might've actually created my account on this last one before the other ones and then forgotten about it. I say that because their website was recently renovated and most of it works well with VO on the Mac. But I suppose all these platforms could be used interchangeably. I tend to use Dreamwidth primarily for long-form stuff, as it is a website and not a mobile app. There was talk of them creating a mobile app, but I don't think they have the resources with which to do that. There's also http://www.imood.com , but it seems part of that became rather inaccessible. I'm checking into that. I've had other things going though, including a death in the family so haven't been active on any of these recently.

@Holger
Thanks. I will look for Thomas' podcast. He always does a great job. Nice and succinct with all of the info one needs. Well edited!
