Unfortunately, the VoiceOver volume bug when connecting a Bluetooth speaker came back

Hello team, I hope everything is fine.

I would like to report that that situation in which the VoiceOver volume increased to the maximum when we connected to any Bluetooth speaker returned in iOS 17.3. Now, however, it is not possible to solve this problem by simply turning off the VoiceOver feedback sounds as it happened before, In addition to the fact that the problem also seems to affect the system sounds, such as keyboard tones for example.

To reproduce the problem, simply connect to a Bluetooth speaker while VoiceOver is enabled and interact with the phone, it will then be possible to notice the problem occurring.

We then ask again for a correction for this annoying problem.

I hope my information is useful for the verification and resolution of this problem. Without further ado, I thank you and I say goodbye to you.

Cordially,

Ricardo Brandão

Hello,
yes, I can confirm the bug wiwth Voiceover increasing volume to the maximum when connected to a bluetooth speaker.
Please, what Iphone model do you have?
I am just wondering if it might have something to do with certain iphone models.
I'm on Iphone XR and have the bug.
However, my friend has Iphone 11 and Iphone 14 plus and everything works fine for her.
I have the latest IOS version installed, but the bug is still there.

Go to more info for that speaker and set it to any of the other settings apart from speaker.

Voiceover will come from the speaker itself, but at least it's better than nothing.

Just make sure your speaker volume isnt' all the way up, or you'll have a similar problem.

Thanks. But I would like to have voiceover on my phone while I am listening something else on my bluetooth speaker.

I have a BT headset that has issues similar to the problems described here. Fortunately, they're bone conducting, so jumping to max volume doesn't blow out my remaining hearing.

But iPhone volume problems aren't limited to BT devices. The other day, after rebooting my iPhone SE 2020, I was simultaneously entering my passcode and raising the volume so I could hear the passcode. I pressed the up volume button exactly once, and volume immediately increased to maximum. This was with the built-in speaker, not a BT speaker. I haven't been able to reproduce this issue.

It's easy to find Apple support forum topics where people complain they can't control volume during a phone call. It's too low for them to hear the caller and it can't be increased, that sort of thing. This makes me think the problem has nothing to do with VoiceOver.

I believe that the problem is not restricted to certain iPhone models, because I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max on iOS 17.3

Hi. I’m not encountering this issue on my iPhone 15 running iOS 17.3.1. I wonder what’s different about your set up for mine?

Hi, I don't have this issue I have had it in the past. Have you thought of creating an activity? You could create one that turns off sounds and sets the VO volume at 10%. Then use it in any app you want via the rotor. Or, set it to activate automatically in apps you choose. Note if this did work don't set volume to 0% because Vo stops talking completely and it is a mare to get speech back without sighted help. See if that works.

I have refused to load 17.3 and 17.4 because of this bug, can anyone let me know if this is still prevalent. I hate this bug it is a nightmare for me. Thank you

0 I have installed iOS 17.4.1 on my wife's SE22 this morning, and this voice over bug is still present, exactly as it was 17.3.1. This is unusable for me so I am stuck on 17.2 point X at the moment. Apple please please please fix this again thank you

Hi,

Not sure why this should be a showstopper. As per my previous post on this creating an activity works perfectly. If you set it to work with specific apps you don't even realise the issue existed. It works seamlessly.
