unable to utilize the audio ducking feature in iOS 18.1.1

I updated to the latest version of iOS today and am no longer able to use the audio ducking feature. I first noticed this when I was using SiriusXM which has gotten very accessible as of late by the way. I thought that this was maybe just a glitch in the SiriusXM app but experienced the same issue with Pandora. Has anyone else experienced this issue or know how to fix it?

Have you checked out the recent posts on this? Apple changed the way ducking worked. So, you may have to look at altering your settings. a post from a few days ago has myself and Denis explain how to do this. I thought on iOS 18.2 beta it was broke but finally after much messing about I got it to work again and it makes more sense the new way.

Thanks for your reply :) If you are referring to the use audio ducking only while speaking feature I have been using that before I updated.

Hi Amelia,

No they changed the actual settings. Not just while speaking I'm guessing if set to always this would still work. You have to play around with both VO volume and ducking amount and add to rotor etc. They probably should have just left it how it was in iOS17 but where's the fun in that!

Were these changes implemented in the update that was just released? I have been keeping my iPhone up-to-date and this only started happening after I installed the newest update today.

I actually like how it works now.
Has anyone had issues with controlling audioducking for activities? The volume itself feels kinda... Weird.
Also, could anyone suggest Apple to make it so the quick settings can change settings for the current activity?

Hello, iOS 18.2 which will come out 2 weeks had fix this issue. The rc will be release next week. The VO volume and media are separate. Someone will need to do a podcast on it again. Maybe Thomas since he did one for audioducking.

As said on the other thread about this, more or less related to audio my watch randomly change the media volume down and sometimes up (watchos 11.2 beta 3 or whatever the latest is as of writing) so my voiceover even at 100% is nearly unaudible and I have to ask siri to raise the media volume to 80%.
