Hi. I am trying to hide the on-screen keyboard on my iPhone 13. I need to do this because the keypad that popped up to allow me to enter an authorization code is hiding the submit button. Searching online hasn't found any answers for voice over users, but a mainstream solution that didn't work. Would someone please explain how to do this?

Here are 3 suggestions:

  1. Perform the scrub gesture, as this will on occasions dismiss the onscreen keyboard.
  2. Turn off VoiceOver, tap on the top half of the screen, turn VoiceOver back on again. This may have dismissed the onscreen keyboard.
  3. Turn off VoiceOver, flick up with 1 finger on the top half of the screen, turn VoiceOver back on again. This may not have dismissed the onscreen keyboard, but it might have scrolled the page to revealed the button that you need to access.

Good luck!

I still haven’t figured out the scrub gesture, but option two in your list of suggestions did the trick. My cell service is now back on my iPhone 13!

Excellent!

Regarding the scrub gesture, there are two ways to perform this.

In both cases you use two fingers and have them touching. The first option is to place the two fingers on the screen and move them across the screen as if you were writing a letter “Z”.

The second method is where its name “scrub” comes from, in that you place the two fingers on the screen and then perform a gesture similar to that of “scrubbing” a dirty mark off of something.

You can practice this in the VoiceOver section of the Settings app.
