I have an iPhone 7. Pressing the home button three times does not turn on voice over. When I am somewhere with no connection siri doesn't work. It is impossible to go through settings without voice over. Is there some other quick way to turn it on??
Thanks

You will need sighted assistance. Try to find someone who can help you turn on VoiceOver. After that you will be able to set up the accessibility shortcut. Hope this helps.

That works, or just connect your phone to iTunes, find the configure accessibility thing and find turn on Voiceover. Those are the only ways to do it without sighted help. Once you get Voiceover turned on, either by siri, or sighted assistance or by iTunes, go into general and find the accessibility shortcut, and click on activate/deactivate Voiceover. Most of the time when you get a new phone, the accessibility shortcut is disabled, so you'll either have to use siri or connect to iTunes. that's my experience with getting new phones.

Hello,

As you discovered, Siri will not work without an internet connection. Do you have cellular data turned off? Siri will work without wifi as long as you have a cellular connection.

Once you have VO turned on, enable the triple click to turn on VO. It sounds like you don’t have it turned on.

HTH and good luck.

Agreed. Make sure that cell data is turned on under settings. It sounds like the data is switched off.

Well, this is my second week of having an iPhone. I did not realize that the shortcut needed to be set up. It was at the very bottom of the accessibility stuff. I got it now thanks. By the way, becomming an iPhone user has gone far better than I had anticipated. It's a brave new world.

What I do when getting a new iDevice is ask for personal setup at Apple or help at the carrier store. they'll turn on VO for you if you know the steps (they may not), and even pair a braille display for you if you tell them the BT code and where to find the settings. It's great! Both Apple and my local carrier have done it for me. It's part of setup, don't feel bad asking for sighted help or that you have to do it all yourself at home later. They offer it to sighted people too for help setting up. Of course, if you receive your device in the mail that's not going to be an option unless you want to travel to a store for help. I think my least favourite part of the setup screens is the language screen. Even my sighted mother found it hard.
