trouble calling and texting uber drivers

hello applevis folks,

for months I have been trying to find a reliable way to call or text an uber driver once they are on their way to picking me up. i usually double tap on "driver profile" that tells me drivers name, make and color of car and license plate number. I swipe right about a million times and occasionally but not reliably, I sometimes come across the options to phone or text driver.

The text or call driver options are sometimes there and sometimes not. this is very frustrating. If I knew where those options were on the screen it would be enormous help to me. I want to tell the driver to look for a guy with a white cane.

Also, i am trying to figure out exactly how to cancel a ride because, if i can reliably cancel the ride, then i can practice finding call or text driver options again and again without having to actually accept and pay for the ride.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! As I've been trying to figure out this enigma for months.
Thanks for your consideration and thanks to Applvis for providing this forum.

Ok, I have a few theories. first, are you having good cell service where you are? Mine's crap, thanks rich morons next door, but I can always find it. Here's how to try again next time. Tap where it says "meet at the pickup point. You'll see the profile, swipe past it. It's another two or three swipes. pro tip, if you cancel multiple rides, that might not go over well with Uber, plus you have to cancel the ride within two minutes or be charged. Thieves,, I know. Another suggestion is to watch the car coming. I mean down from the menu area, is a thing that will populate saying something like, 4.9 miles away. This is how i keep track. Remember never to use back, it acts like it takes you to the previous screen but it doesn't. If you're viewing the profile, tap close, then tap the "meet at pickup point", that will take you to the main part of the screen. also think about sharing your trip's status. again the interface is a little clunky, but tap where it says something like add a contact, then select say a friend or Mom or whoever. I have done this so much, I've been told to stop doing it lol. Last tip, delete your other forum topic please? You kinda posted it twice so I thought it was an accident. Hope these helped. Just be patient. I'd be more worried about the language barrier then you being spotted.

Hello Siobhan,

That was a treasure trove of uber tips that i will study repeatedly. My cell connection is pretty decent so i don't think it has to do with connectivity.

I always wondered how long a window i had to cancel a ride. Now I know its two minutes from the time i book a ride. For some reason my voice over counts off when a car is coming by minutes. 5, 6 and so on. that way i know how long i have to explore interface prior to the car getting to me. Hot tip to hit close instead of back as i am (uber) cautious : ) during the hailing process. There's so much I want to learn about it and there is always a limited amount of time before the car arrives.

Thanks for heads up on my double post. My bad, its gone.

Seriously though, I go by the mileage, so it will say 3.9 miles away and count down from that. also if the driver cancels, you're not charged, if you do, you are charged like six bucks. Not worth it in my opinion. I also use Lyft, though you won't get a milage, you can get the same minute by minute thing. Remember though some people won't put much in their profile. It might just say I like to drive. If you want to sign up with Lyft, send me a message off here and I'll send you my invite code. The first ride is free, then you get i think fifty bucks in credit. And to be honest? I'll get credit which will always help. :) Keep asking questions, I'll do my best. One more thing, sometimes Uber anyay, will inform you that your diver is hard of hearing or deaf. Makes a bit interesting when you realize they can speak. No, I'm not being rude, sorry if it sounded that way.
