transferring music by copying and pasting on your iphone

Hi all
I heard this morning that there are apps available which basically turns your iphone into a usb drive so that you can manage it like a memory stick. This means that you can simply copy and paste files to it like a memory stick like transferring music to any ordinary mp3 player. I detest iTunes to have to do this and would like to find an alternative option. Can this indeed be done?

I'm using Phone drive, an app that turns your iphone on a USB archive.
You must remember that when you copy a mp3 to the phone drive app, you can listen to music with the phone drive player. You won't find the song or the entire album on your music libraries.
anyway, the player is accessible and you can also use it in your lock screen.
Also for me, Itunes is simply something that should not exist in the world. Terrible, unuseful, ridicolous.
Unfortunately in some circumstances we must use it, sorry!
