Time standing still when YouTube app open

OK guys, this is a really weird one! Running iOS 10.2 on my iPhone 6 with the latest version of YouTube, nothing time-related seems to work when the app is open. First, say its 12:55 PM when I open the app and I spend five minutes in the app. The time display at the top of the screen should say 1 PM but it stays stuck on 12:55 until I navigate away from the app. Even worse, if there is an alarm set to go off while you have YouTube open, the alarm will not go off! I often fall asleep to a YouTube video so I learned this the hard way when I woke up late the other day.
Has anyone else experienced this strange bug?

I have noticed this when watching videos. Streamed a crapton of something over several hours and it freezes the status bar for time. I also had to charge my phone and when plugged in the battery percentage says "Not charging" next to it even though it actually is. No idea what this is all about, but yes, this is an oddity to be sure.

I've also been noticing this for probably the last year or so but I started thinking I was going mad as sometimes the clock would be five or six hours behind the actual time. At first I seemed perhaps it was showing an American time zone as I'm in the UK but it may be that that is how long I've had the app left open for. May be worth emailing Apple as I'm surprised if the YouTube app would be able to alter the clock

I'm having this problem as well. I never noticed I did untill I read this. However it seems only to happen while the video window is open.

I see this too but only when actually playing a video.

I haven't tried setting an alarm to go off but I'm going to try that right away. As for the time standing still, I've had that problem for a while and I've sent lots of reports to YouTube. Through The feedback form in the app.

I have noticed the same problem, too, but I just thought, at first, that it was one of those things that happen only once.
After that, it happened again the next day and that's when I came to realize that something was going on with YouTube.
It still said 12 AM when in fact it was 5 AM.
I haven't had a problem with the alarms because I haven't had one set during that time.

iPhone 6 and iPad Air with iOS 10, this only seems to happen while a video is open. Also, I'm fairly scertain alarms do work for me as I tend to set multiple alarms for waking up and I often have a video playing as I do and I have seen the videos get interrupted with alarms. Timers also work, so I think whatever this bug is, it only affects the clock display. Not sure if it's just for VoiceOver or for sighted people as well.

This is an old problem. I noticed this within iOS 10 and previous version of youtube

It seemed to work OK whenThe YouTube app was running.
However, I wasn't running it for very long so the clock didn't get way out of sync. I suppose I should also write to Apple about it.

Yes I have also got this bug. Noticed it back in October and thought it was a one time only thing. But it did it again a few months later and even this week.

I’ve experienced this problem long time ago and now I’ve searched for a news and YouTube haven’t fixed that yet..

So, I simply use safari to play YouTube, it uses the Apple player so there’s no problem what so ever with time related information of your device!
Hopefully this will help some people now..
I say hopefully but is watching YouTube late at night before sleep improve your sleep cycle..?
My awnser for that is no!! ^^

Had the same problem with the alarm - it did not ring if youtube was on.

This seemed to work for me: If you remove the snooze option, the alarm works.
