Has its accuracy improved? The last time I tried this app, it was giving me results that weren't even close to what I was looking for. As an example, I tried to scan the temperature on the home thermostat, and it told me it was a Samsung phone case. It told me the same when I scanned a book, a can of food, and a bottle of water. So I gave up on the app. At the time, others were having similar issues with it.
it appears to be better. I don’t know how well it’s going to work on your thermostat, but today I took a picture of my dog. Result: a dog sleeping on a rug in the day time.
Is this app still even relevant anymore after the release of Seeing AI?
It seems as if Seeing AI is way more powerful and has a lot more features than Tap Tap See does. This app went through so many changes and back and forth from paid verses not paid.
For me, the update did not improve the app. Results can still vary a lot. I find it good for identifying clothes colours, and I get mixed results when trying to identify Keurig K-cups. It almost never works to name a particular CD, just saying that it is a CD. The bug still exists where the video button just takes a photo, the same action as the camera button. I am running the app on an iPhone 8 with IOS 12.2.

This app Tap Tap See is the worst ever! I used it to identify the color of my blouse and it read NBA hi-top sneakers and this was the other day!
