Taking videos while whearing AirPods

Hi everyone. I have been trying to take more videos of my nieces and nephews. I have AirPods in my ears constantly so I can interact with my phone with some privacy. The problem is that when I try to take a video, it seems like it is using my AirPods microphone instead of the phone mic, which does not make for good audio for whatever I'm videoing. Does anyone know a solution for this? I'm not seeing any way of choosing a microphone to use when videoing. I think some other camera apps might let you do this, and I would be open to using a different app if it was accessible and not overly complicated. I just need something that will be quick for me to capture those memories with the kids.
