Hi Guys,
Does anyone know how to stop VO from saying toolbars? I'm sure there is a setting but for the life of me can't find it. I know it can be done because I turned it off on my personal phone. My new work phone in apps says toolbars quite often and it gets on my nerves. Searched Google and on this site but nothing. Could have swarn it was on here I learnt how to do this but if so it's vanished. Any help appreciated.

VoiceOver hints
Hi Lee,
I imagine it has something to do with VoiceOver hints. Try turning those off under VoiceOver's verbosity settings. Also, try turning off 'more content' and 'container descriptions' also under verbosity settings. I might be barking up the wrong tree completely here, but from what you're saying it sounds like VoiceOver is giving you too much information which would come under verbosity.
Thanks Tara
Hi Tara,
Thanks it was container descriptions! I'd turned off the rest but that was turned on. It now works fine. Good spot.
Containers
This falls under the Container Description category, under verbosity. I typically have all of that disabled on my iPhone, as it can be, well, a bit too verbose.
When Container Description is enabled with speech you will get things like different results when navigating different containers. For example, on your home screen, navigating through the dock on my iPhone will give me the following, "(Dock) Phone, Mail, Safari, iHeart Radio. Because I do not use Apple music.
In Safari, when navigating the Back and Forward controls, etc, I get, (Toolbar) Back, Forward, Share, Show Bookmarks, Tabs, and so on.
Disabling Container Descriptions basically removes the announcement of what I have put in parenthesis above, namely 'Dock' and 'Toolbar'.
HTH.
Pronunciation dictionary
I suppose you could have VO says something else, using the pronunciation dictionary. Maybe instead of tool bar you could have VO say hubba hubba?
