Free Spoken Verse app will speak any verse or chapter from three different versions of the Bible. Saying "John Chapter 3 Verse 16" will speak that single verse or saying "John Chapter 3" will speak the entire chapter. A right arrow will speak the next verse or chapter and left arrow will speak the previous verse or chapter. A swipe left will slow down speech and sweeping right will speed speech up. Speech only responds on the next requested verse or chapter. The bottom right button will Repeat the verse or chapter. The bottom left button will allow you to select a different version of the Bible.

Three versions are available: KJV , NIV or NLT. Please send me your comments or suggestions. I appreciate you all very much.

I would love this app! Is it available yet in the App Store? Thank you for all your hard work especially that it will work for us voiceover users!

I have to admit I have not tested it with VoiceOver so please report back and let me know if it works. I am prepared to modify it if it does not. Thanks for testing.

I love simple apps. Thank you for this.

I have a small suggestion. When I plug my headphones, the voice over voice and the voice are going through the speaker and not through the headphones. I think it would be better to use headphones for listening when they are plugged in because the microphone can listen to voiceover when I’m trying to speak. Also it is better if I use it in the quiet environment. I may have more suggestions but will think more about what could be improved.

This app is really nice! Again, thank you! Questions: is there a way to speed up the reading voice? And if while reading a chapter, is there a way to stop reading without closing the app?

Yes there is a way to speed up and slow down speech. When the app is not speaking, swipe left to slow down and swipe right to speed up. Multiple swipes will make a bigger difference. Swipe three times right and the speed of the next spoken verse will be faster. Also pressing the button used to speak the verse address a second time will stop the speech without shutting down the app. However the speech must be started again from the beginning using the Repeat button at the bottom. It cannot be resumed where it left off.

I hope this helps.

Please tell me should both the VoiceOver voice and the speaking verse voice both go over the headphones? I will check on that tomorrow. I believe I had to make some choices in setting up the Speech Recognizer and the Audio Session. I will examine it and let you know what I find.

Thanks for your help.

Do you usually use headphones all the time? Are they always plugged in?

Thank you so much for this app! But is the Bible also read in Italian?

Yes, both VoiceOver and the speech should come through the headphones or in my case, hearing aids. This is a great app. I also use a braille display and it works very well with that. Is there a way to paus
the speech? That would be a good suggestion. Especially, if people need to stop for a second and resume. It can be very annoying to hear the whole chapter again, if you need to pause for a secon Otherwise, great  Otherwise, great app.

I believe I may have found a way to check if they are plugged in and then redirect the audio output. I will be checking over the next few days. I agree. I have always thought there should be a way to pause and the resume the speech. I am investigating. Good idea. Thanks for your help.

Hello,
this app sounds great. I use the Bible app, and one of the features it offers is push notifications whenever a new bible verse pops up. could you add the ability to send push notifications for daily verses? so whenever a verse is presented, the verse will automatically play in the background?

I have added the ability to Pause and Resume verses and chapters. This will be in the next release.

Hi! If you could make it where you don't have to speak to the app and you can also just search for a verse book or chapter, and have possibly a read along feature that'd be lovely. Overall, thanks for this.

Hi,

I tried your app a while back and had trouble when I wanted to bring up a book and chapter like 1 Corinthians 13. What is the proper syntext to give for bringing up this book and chapters with a similar structure where there is a book number before the book followed by the book name, followed by the chapter and/or chapter and verse.

If this has improved please let me know. Thanks.

Hello,
I tried "First Corinthian" followed by the chapter number and the verse number, and it did not seem to work. I also noticed that you have a button for the New International Version and the New Living Translation but no clear button for the King James Version.

Would you like to put the app through TestFlight and have me check the app out further like a beta test and then release the app. Apple has not been very good with testing apps that work with Voiceover for the blind and I'm a blind individual that could help you.
